Chapter 12

"You aren't mom. And you aren't dad."

She's seeing this. Ginny's seeing this...

The two of them stand there for a minute, staring at him.

Harry regains his head faster than Ginny does, and throws himself at Ginny's brother, hugging him tightly.

Ginny's only sibling left looks stunned, but slowly hugs Harry back and smiles.

Ginny hears Harry say something, but she can't figure it out, so she just stands there and watches, still trying to piece everything together.

Finally, Harry pulls away at Ron, then looks between the two Weasley kids, not knowing what to say.

But, after minutes of staring, Ginny knows what to say.

"You... You aren't dead." She whispers, then tackles Ron, crying into his shoulder.

The two of them fall to the floor, but Ron just laughs and hugs her back, letting her cry.

"You aren't dead!" Ginny mumbles in between her cries, hearing her parents run into the house.

"Surprise, surprise." Ron chuckles, gently kissing Ginny's cheek in a brotherly way.

Harry has to pull Ginny off Ron, looking happier than he has in weeks.

"I'm not dead." Ron says with a shrug once he's standing again.

"Really? Would of never guessed." Everyone laughs, "What... What happened?"

Ron runs a hand through his hair and sighs, "I fell off the edge. Thought I would die, but I didn't... This girl found me by the edge of a lake, then nursed me back to health..."

"Scared us half to death when he showed up," Molly chuckled and started cleaning up, wondering how the hell two kids can make such a big mess by only hugging.

Ron shrugs with a small smile, "They had just came back from seeing the two of you... Surprised you're both here."

And it hits them.

Hermione's dead...

"Ron..."

"I know," he doesn't look that sad, "Hermione's dead. Who would've guessed, huh?"

"I'm sorry..."

"When I heard you two made it out, I had to sit and think. My best friend and sister, or... Possible girlfriend."

Ginny looks down, grabbing Harry's hand.

"But then I realized I get two outta three back, so... I'm okay... Surprised two of even made it out. Thought only one would come back."

Harry shrugs, "She wouldn't let me go."

Ginny blushes then buries her head in Harry's side, squeezing his hand.

"You two want something to eat?" Molly's voice brought an end to the silence.

"Please."

After watching her mom go off into the kitchen, Ginny allows Harry to drag her to the living room, trying not to let the memories come back.

She's trying not to remember the time Fred split the side of his eyebrow by falling and hitting the coffee table, and she had to clean it up. She's trying not to remember how she knitted the blanket for her brothers when they returned from school. She's trying not to remember the time George gave Ron crap for not watching Ginny and letting her fall as Fred hugged her.

She's trying not to remember her favorite memories of her dead brothers, but it just isn't working, and Ginny bursts into tears, Harry's grip on her tightening.

She can feel Harry's hand on her back and how his shirt is already soaked, but all she wants is Fred and George trying to make her smile again so mum doesn't come running in.

She can feel Ron sit down beside her, Harry letting him calm her down.

"I know how hard it is," Ron whispers to her, "But just imagine how hard it is for them too...."

Ginny wants to cry harder at that, but she can't find enough tears for that, so she stops and reattaches herself to Harry's side.

Ginny isn't sure she'll ever be able to go a day without crying now.

When it's finally time for dinner, Harry and Ginny are stunned at how much food there is.

There seems to be an endless amount and Ginny's positive that she won't be able to eat 1/4 of it.

"Wow." She's staring at all the food.

"I know."

"Haven't seen this much in..."

"I don't even know if I can eat this much..."

Ginny half smiles and looks at Harry, then back at the food.

Ever so slowly, the two of them start to eat, but can't even finish a plate full.

"Too much food..." Ginny whispers, pushing her plate away.

She doesn't want to look at her family's faces and see how sad they are...

It's hard to return to normal. Nightmares don't go away and sometimes they don't go away when Ginny wakes up.

Ginny's forced Harry to share a room with her, just so the nightmares would stay away.

That didn't work so well though.

Sometimes Ginny hides out in the closest because the nightmare hasn't gone away yet, or Harry cries all day.

It's hard. Really hard.

But no one expected it to be easy....
