Yesterday's shift went well, does that mean that Minho did not suffer from a terrible headache all night? No it does not. Yes he enjoys taking care of these kids and smothering them with his love. However he had to admit that dealing with screaming kids for half of the day was not easy. but he signed up for this and genuinely enjoyed what he did and he'd be ready for today too. Which he was, today's shift also went pretty smoothly just like the rest of the day. Felix was being his usual bright self and Jeongin finally spoke to Hyunjin today. Seungmin still hadn't apologized to Hyunjin yet he planned on doing it tomorrow since spring break would literally start on Friday. Minho was currently closing the day care with one of the older imployes, the name "daycare" was sort of ironic since they would literally close at 10pm but most kids would already be out by 8.
"Ah..I need advil.." Minho put his hand on his head for a second then grabbed a water from the small fridge they had. He headed out since he wouldn't do complete closing since he was still under 20. He walked to his car and got in grabbing the advils that he always left besides the seat. He took two pills and downed them with the water he had taken. Minho started his car and headed to the cat Cafe that was near. He loved this cafe because first of all it had over 5 cats and second it always closed at 12 AM making it easy for him to enjoy a small meal while admiring his favorite animal ever just before heading home. And he also may or may have not sort of recently friended an employee from it.
When he arrived he took his wallet and placed it in his pocket stepping out of the car. his boots making contact with the ground and making this sort of "crunch" sound while he walked. The brunette walked up 2 steps and opened the door, a jingle cutting through the silence that was resting inside the cafe. Minho walked up to the counter and a familiar squirreled face entered his field of vision. "Hey" he sounded almost exhausted. "Isn't it a little late for you to be here?" Jisung said with an eyebrow raised "I don't know you tell me, isn't it a little late for you to be working here?" Well that was silly. "This place is owned by my mom so it's not like I have a choice" "yeah yeah..whatever.." Minho gave up on that conversation.
The younger boy giggled and looked at Minho as he quieted down. "No honestly, what are you doing here? You don't come at this hour a whole lot" The younger was genuinely interested. "I know, but I just wanted to come here for a bit" "Missed me?" Minho scoffed jokingly and looked up for a second then back to Jisung. "Don't flatter yourself I only missed the cats" Jisung smiled and wiped the counter top, after he finished wiping it he placed the cloth over his shoulder. "Seriously though I'm curious" "I always end my shifts late on weekdays so I decided to chill here for a little though since I'm suffering from a horrible headache" "U got painkillers?" "Yeah" They both made eye contact for a few seconds and then Minho spoke looking away. "Anyways, do you still make coffee at this hour" Jisung gave him a confused look. "Yeah but" The younger turned around and looked at the clock that was hanging on the wall behind him. "It's 10:16 PM why do you need coffee, if anything you have to sleep" "I have homework to do dumbass" Jisung did a stabbing motion to his heart. "Ouch, you're a meanie" "uh huh" Minho said with a small smirk "Anyways, your oder Mr. Lee" "ugh ew don't call me that" Minho looked at him disgusted while the other smiled pridefully "Just make me an americano with a little bit of cream because I don't want it to be too bitter" Jisung looked at him while picking up a cup. "Do I look like I know what "a little bit of cream" is" "hmm..just eyeball it I don't really care" The younger scoffed in surprise. "If it tastes bad it isn't my fault" "I thought the customer was always right?" The other sighed playfully and closed his eyes. "Just sit down" Minho snickered and sat down not too far away from the counter.
After a few minutes the drink was done and Jisung came over with it and sat next to Minho who was scrolling on his phone. "Your americano with "a little bit of cream" Mr.Lee" Minho set his phone down and looked at Jisung blinking. "I'm never coming back here" "Mhm..I'll see you next week I guess, you'll miss those cats." The older rolled his eyes "What are you doing here anyways?" "Well usually people don't order coffee near the middle of the night so it's empty which you may or may not know, means I have no one to attend so I'm sitting here with you instead" The older tool a sip of his coffee in thought then spoke when something crossed his mind. "Why do you guys close so late then?" "My moms friends gather here around 11 so we close late" Minho let out a long Humm and kept drinking his coffee. "So what do you do?" Asked Jisung. The older boy put his cup down and looked at his friend. "What do you mean?" "Work, honestly I can't put my finger what job gives someone late shifts like this to young people other than a coffee shop or something.. But if that was the case you wouldn't have come here" "Right.. I work in this daycare thing, well more like "all day" care since we close late. we specialize on kids with disabilities"
Jisungs mouth falls a little agape.
what was it..
was it shock?
confussion?
surprise?
Guilt?
The first thing that crossed his mind was the boy in class that he bothered so much. He felt a knot tie in his throat for a second, he fidgeted with his hands under the table. Feeling like millions of minutes have passed even though it was about 4 seconds he answered. "hm, wow for some reason I didn't expect that" He said and flicked his hair out of his face with a small head movement letting out a semi awkward laugh. "everyone always says that" He said with a small giggle. "I like working with kids in general but society rejects these kinds of kids even though they're in their early stage of life. They aren't at fault yknow so I prefer to work with them, show them that not everyone will reject them. Unfortunately a lot of their parents aren't easy.." Jisung stayed quiet..he didn't have anything to say for obvious reasons but for once in his life he actually felt a little bad for being a proper dick. Minho finished with his coffee and sighed. "That got a little sappy" Jisung looked up and smiled "It's fine"
Minho stood up and bowed. "Thank you for the coffee" He waved and left with a smile. Jisung picked up the empty cup and looked at the other leave. He bit his lip in frustration and sighed. "Fuck."Seungmin walked into the cafeteria and sat at the table he always sat with Hyunjin. He's been constantly staring at the boy for the past few days as if he was reminiscing his past life or something. "How dramatic" he thought. Today was the day that he'll finally speak to Hyunjin and properly apologize for his behavior. He couldn't bear looking at Hyunjin come to lunch and approach the table they always sat at out of habit then disappear. These past 3 days have been absolute hell. And apparently Jisung threatened to hit Hyunjin on Monday. He told Jeongin this morning that he was finally going to speak to Hyunjin but he couldn't spot the boy anywhere in the cafeteria. Had the older already gotten used to going somewhere else to eat?. that was impossible, change isn't on Hyunjins to do list. Maybe he underestimated Hyunjins ability to accommodate to change too? Oh he really was a terrible friend wasnt he? He ate his meal and thought. He'll just postpone it to after school, he would have more time to speak to him anyways. Seungmin found eating in this table a bit bittersweet though so he went to the rooftop to eat, it was way more relaxing anyways. Maybe after he apologized to Hyunjin he could come with the older to eat lunch here.
Lunch time was almost over so Seungmin left the roof and headed to where his locker was. How ever he had taken notice that the hallways were strangely empty, there was no way everyone was in the classroom already right? He went to the cafeteria to check if everyone just happened to be there but to his surprise, it was empty, completely deserted. What the hell was going on? Had he accidentally stepped through a worm hole and entered a different universe? he thought. Seungmin wasn't the type to question that sort of creepy shit before but fuck, if it was a possibility it has definitely happened. He went to a different hallway, the one near the basketball court. He heard faded voices in what he noticed that were making a chanting beat. Then suddenly a girl ran towards where the basketball court was so he followed along. Soon he saw a group of people forming a circle saying- "fight! fight! fight!" -over and over again. He walked to where the crowd was but couldn't see anything. Then as if the suspicions in the back of his head that still hadn't formed a thought in it were confirmed part of the crowd started chanting- "Jisung! Jisung! Jisung!" -This made him rush through the crowd and there it was, Hyunjin and Jisung fighting. The other half of the crowd started chanting "Hyunjin" Now both names mixing in his ears. Seungmin stared at the scene that was unfolding infront of it and screamed at them to stop but nothing was working. They were both blinded by pure rage. Suddenly the crowd dispersed and a teacher walked in, of course it was their homeroom teacher.
