Johnny's POV:

Homecoming was about two weeks away and I really wanted to ask Ponyboy. But there was a problem, Ponyboy wouldn't stop yapping on and on about how he was gonna ask Cherry. I don't know what he sees in her that he can't see in me. Not to mention her and Bob are on and off every week. Not to mention she's a Socs. Ponboy never even talked to her and when he does he gets all nervous and makes excuses to walk away.
"Johnny?" Ponboy waved his hand in front of my face. A snapped out of my thoughts.
"Huh- oh sorry I zoned out" I turned my head to him.
"I'm gonna ask her now" He stood up. Woah wait what…I would stop him but I didn't. I kinda wish I did.
Ponyboys POV:
I walked up to her table and sat down next to her.
"Soo..um-" Everyone at the table was looking at me. I took a deep breath.
"Cherry, will you go to homecoming with me?" She looked over at Bob who was a few tables away
"I was actually planning on going with Bob"
Ouch. I awkwardly smiled and walked away. Jeez, that was humiliating..I sat down next to Johnny and put my head down. I felt Johnny's hand on my back. I looked over at him, he smiled softly at me
"She said no.."
"Oh I'm sorry Pone.." I could tell he wanted to say something else. He looked around the table that we where at, everyone else at our table skipped school since it was Monday. I didn't know why they did it Mondays ain't too bad. Johnny got closer to me to whisper something.
"I know someone who you could go to homecoming with" I squinted at him, very confused
Johnny's POV:
I was gonna ask him, with our really asking him.
"Really?" He put his head up. I nodded with a big smile on my face.
"Mhm. You know em real well." I didn't wanna just straight up ask him to go to homecoming so I found another way.
"Huh.." He tilted his head slightly. Looking around the cafeteria
"Yep..black hair, black eyes.." For some reason at the moment those were the only two things I could think of to describe myself.
"Who…" Ponboy perked up, still looking around the cafeteria for the person I could be talking about.
"They're sitting next to you." Ponboy looked to the other side of him that I was on. I don't think I know anyone else so smart yet so stupid at the same time. I know what he means when he says he's 'book smart'. I lightly grabbed his chin and moved his head so he was looking at me.
"Oh.. ohhhhhhh!! Yeah I'll go too homecoming with you johnny!" He was excited to go with me?? I felt that feeling in my stomach again. I didn't even think he'd say yes. I couldn't believe it.
