Iris's P.O.V
As I raked the fields, I continued to swirl with the daydream of Chase. I pictured him sneaking up from behind me, wrapping his hands around me as he helped me take away the dirt to clear for the pigs. He would whisper something into my ear like...
"You'll slip on the mud with your eyes closed," I heard from above as if my daydream had come to life. I whipped around with wide eyes, to see Chase smiling at me handsomely. As I whipped around I felt Rosey let out an oink as she swept my feet. I splat in the mud, cursing at the pig for catching me off guard.
Chase came around reaching his hand out to help me up. "Are you alright?" He asked, as I felt my face heat up, pulling my hand away quickly in embarrassment.
"Oh you know old Rosey! She's the sneaky one!" I said, wiping the mud on my overalls, only creating a bigger mess.
"Yeah, I remember. That's why I usually left this job up to you," He spoke, making me chuckle like a fool. I could feel myself heating up unusually, even though I was used to the muggy heat.
"Ummm.. Are ya here to help! I'm sure Rosey and Gretal missed ya! They never knocked you over like they did me. They are just a bunch of flirts!" I joked, earning a laugh from Chase, who shook his head.
"You were always funny at the right moments. I actually have news for you!" He said, getting me even more excited, having trouble keeping grip on the rake in my hand. "I spoke with Ivan Moshik. The club owner. He is having an event tomorrow and I got you a small showing," he spoke as I slowly tilted and nodded my head.
"What's a 'showing'?" I asked, as he now opened his mouth at me.
"It's where you pick some of your paintings and he'll put them on display to show at his club. They'll pay you good money for them," he said as I now dropped the rake.
"Really?! I... I don't... I've never sold a painting outside of Brooksedge. And usually those are portraits of people's dogs or children... Or both," I rambled as my mind raised rapidly with excitement. Could I really sell my paintings to city folks?
"Well, I suggest you bring the really dark ones. That's his style. And dress up, but not like in a dress. More like, don't come covered in mud," he now spoke, as I felt like a mess, before looking up to see a small lopsided grin on his face.
"Oh, of course not! It's awfully nice of you to set something like that up. I... I don't know how to thank you!" I spoke excitedly.
"No need to thank me. Just make sure you're ready," he said as I nodded my head.
"I haven't been to the city and now i'm going twice in one week!" I harped, surprised that I was actually excited. I had no doubt it had to do with the fact that I was going with Chase.
"Maybe soon you'll be there full time," He said as I looked up at him, seeing his eyes staring straight at me. If my heart couldn't beat any faster at this moment, I would've gone into cardiac arrest.
"I don't know bout' that. I mean...Poppins would miss me!" I said, thinking about how bored I would be if I didn't have an animal to take care of or vegetables to tend to. My life has only consisted of so much in the past 11 years.
"Yeah I'm sure they'd all find a way to make it," he spoke, stepping forward closing the great distance that stood in between us. "And besides... we wouldn't have to end this reunion of ours," he spoke, as I looked up wide eyed at his suggestion. Was he saying he wanted to continue seeing me... in a dating kind of way?!
Just in this romantic moment I felt the tiny footsteps of Rosey sweeping under us, knocking straight under me, roughly as I fell forward into Chase, who reached his hand out grabbing onto me as we both tumbled straight into the mud.
