chapter four: wings, wax, and the price of love.

sunghoon's love for haeun was all-consuming. it was a hunger that gnawed away at him day and night, a longing that he just couldn't shake off. he tried to distract himself, throwing himself into work and hobbies, but nothing could fill the void inside him. all he could think about was haeun, her warmth, her light, the way she made him feel alive.

haeun had become his entire world, and there was nothing sunghoon wouldn't do to be closer to her. the fire within him burned brighter with each passing day until it was an inferno that could not be ignored. it was then that sunghoon remembered the story of icarus, the boy who had flown too close to the sun on wings made of wax and feathers. sunghoon figured that if icarus could fly so close to the sun to be with the one he loved, then he could do the same for haeun.

and so, with a fervour that was unmistakably obsessive, he began constructing his wings. feathers of all colours, shapes, and sizes were gathered and carefully placed to create the perfect wingspan. he coated the wings in wax, pouring layer upon layer until they gleamed in the sunlight. day and night, he worked on his creation, his entire being focused on the desire to be with haeun.

finally, after weeks of labour, the wings were complete. sunghoon looked at them with a sense of awe. they were beautiful, a testament to his love and devotion.

if only he knew that his love for haeun
