~Dakota's POV~
As I stare at the place I call home, I begin to realize how much I actually missed it. Slowly the train comes to a stop at the platform where you hear Hagrid calling for first years. As Twinn, Hermione, Harry, Ron, and I walk to the carriages I remember that Shawn and my brother would soon get sorted into their houses. I hope they would become friends even if they were sorted into different houses. I stop by the carriages to admire the beautiful dark looking horses in front, although no ever sees them. Only people who have lost someone in their lives can.
"Twinn you coming?"
"Yeah." I say climbing into the carriage.
We begin the ride up to the castle. I stay quiet the whole time wondering why no one else realized that the carriages can't pull themselves. I mean you could put a spell on them but you would feel it as you got in and out of them. Soon we arrived at the castle.
Home sweet castle.
I hurry and get out of the carriage knowing that if I'm last they'll wait for me and I want some alone time for about five minutes. I slowly make my way up the front steps and towards the great hall. It seems like forever since I've been here. I make my way over to the Slytherin table and sit down. People start flooding in within a few seconds. So much for my alone time... Finally Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle make their way in. The walk over to the table. Draco beside me, Crabbe and Goyle in front of me. They start talking about world domination or something like that but I'm not listening. I'm used to it by now. Sometimes I think they are out of their minds though.
I turn my head to the professors table. Snape is looking out across the hall to see if there are any trouble makers. He turns to me and nods his head. He may not have any real favorites but if you're in Slytherin and really good at potions, you're definitely on his good side. My eyes move down the table to the headmaster. Dumbledore, as if he knew I was looking at him, turned his eyes and locked onto mine. He knew something. I could tell. I nod and look away. At the Gryffindor table I see all of my friends having a grand time. Sometimes I wish I were in that house instead of this one. Then I remember why I love it. The way the green light reflects off of the lake through the window makes it cozy. The slight tint of the bricks that make it look older and worn down. It's home. Just then two of my Slytherin friends walk over. Persephone and Delia.
Persephone is a tall brunette beauty with green eyes and a reputation. She's been known to sleep around with every guy. Well, almost every guy. Her favorite subject is Transfiguration. The girl is a beast in that subject. Definitely one of McGonnagal's favourites.
Delia is a fiery red head with bright blue eyes. Though short that girl can kick some ass. Never underestimate her. She has the bad girl reputation, always getting in trouble and detention. But when that girl gets in DADA she's serious. No one can beat her besides Harry and those two are always partners.
Last but not least my very best friend, besides Bells, Logan. Logan is a blonde haired heart break with hazel eyes. That girl has a way with words. She can persuade almost anyone. She's been my friend since we were little and the plus is her and Izz actually get along.
My thoughts are cut off by the doors opening to reveal McGonnagal and all the tiny first years. I spot Shawn and Danny in the small group. I smile realizing how much Danny looked like Dad. No, wait. No crying this time. Uhh. Deep breaths. Okay I'm good. Oh, the song is over... Whoopsie.
McGonnagal gets out the scroll of names and starts.
"Alanna MacAulay."
With the hat placed on her head it starts to talk. Of course, no one can hear but her.
All of a sudden it screams "RAVENCLAW!"
Hmm. Nice choice. I decide to tune it out till my brother's name is called. Maybe he'll be Ravenclaw too. Or maybe Gryffindor. He's too mean to be Hufflepuff, so that's out. Although I am kinda hoping he is in Slytherin just so I can watch over him. Oh well. Only he and the hat can choose.
"Danny Dean."
This is it.
He slowly makes his way up to the stool, but he does it with confidence. That's a good sign. It's as if I can actually hear what the hat is saying...
"Ah. Kind heart, brave soul, wise beyond your years, and cunning mind. But where to put you? No, no Hufflepuff. Not enough innocence. Maybe it should be..."
"GRYFFINDOR!"Called it.
I applauded as my little brother sat next to Izz and Hermione. Glad he knew some people in his house. He knew he could trust Twinn.
"Shawn Hagrid."
"Oh great, another giant bloke." Draco says rolling his eyes.
I glare at him challenging him to say it again. He cringed under my glare. Good.
Turning back to Shawn, I see he isn't nervous one bit. He seems to have a grin on his face instead. Huh. Maybe...
The hat cut me off.
"SLYTHERIN!"As he came and sat by me I knew I looked calm but inside, I was screaming. Maybe he was like me. Nice, caring, gentle, but when shit went down you knew I was in the middle. Izz catches my eye and gives me a questioning look. I just shrug. One things for sure, I will look after him. Wow. Hagrid's son. A Slytherin. Oh that would make a good book title. Hmm. Nah. I'm already writing to many books that nobody knows about. And I don't really know why I'm telling you this... Any who. As I walk to the common room I'm thinking about Shawn being a SLYTHERIN! Wow, never thought I'd say that. A Hagrid being a Slytherin. Maybe it is time for a change. I mean Harry had told Izzy that the hat had almost put HIM in Slytherin. That would've been cool. Draco and him might actually have been friends. Another great book idea. I really need to write these down. Oh well. They both would kill me if they ever found out about them. I could beat them both though. Slip a potion in their drinks if they try anything. That's a fun thought. Huh, and everyone wonders why I'm in Slytherin....
I'm so deep in thought I don't realize I'm in the astrology tower. I always loved this place and the teachers don't get mad cause I'm always early to class. Oh well better get to bed.
Tomorrow gonna be great.
