Zoe had always admired Gray's kindness and his ability to value her opinion. Despite his striking appearance, with his untamed black curls and piercing blue eyes, there was an undeniable darkness that overshadowed his face. The dark circles under his eyes and the paleness of his complexion revealed a lack of sleep that plagued him. As a receptionist at the business firm, Zoe had witnessed Gray's struggles firsthand.

One evening, Zoe decided to stay late at work to finish some pending tasks. As she was about to leave, she heard shouting coming from Gray's glass office. Curiosity got the better of her, and she couldn't resist the urge to investigate. Inside, she witnessed a heated argument between Gray and his agent.

"I'm doing everything I can!" Gray shouted, his frustration evident.

"You're not doing enough," the agent retorted, his face red with fury.

In a fit of rage, the agent slapped Gray across the face, leaving behind a bruise that quickly began to manifest in a multitude of colors. Blood dripped from Gray's lip, and the pain was etched on his face. The agent's cruel words, calling Gray a street rat, struck a painful chord within him. Gray remained motionless until the agent left, and only then did he crumble to the floor, overwhelmed by his emotions.

Shocked and horrified by what she had witnessed, Zoe accidentally knocked over a vase, shattering it. Gray, startled by the noise, quickly made his way towards her hiding spot. Zoe took in his disheveled appearance, his bruises and cuts more pronounced up close.

Gray's eyes widened as he saw her, but before he could say anything, Zoe pushed past him and ran away, unable to process the intensity of her emotions.

The following day, Zoe mustered up the courage to confront Gray. Arriving early at work, she discovered Gray sleeping peacefully in his chair, still wearing the same clothes as the day before. Gently opening his office door, she woke him up, and concern instantly filled his eyes.

However, their newfound happiness was soon tested when a burly man confronted Zoe in the work cafeteria, accusing her of using her relationship with Gray to secure her position. Gray, who happened to be nearby, stepped in between them, his calm demeanor masking his anger.

The man taunted Gray, mocking his scar and belittling him as a street rat. Gray flinched, but a surge of determination coursed through him. With one swift punch, he knocked the man unconscious. Bloodied knuckles and a grim expression adorned his face as he turned to Zoe, concern etched in his eyes.

As Zoe reached out to him, Gray's emotions overwhelmed him. He struggled to find the right words, blood slowly dripping from his mouth. Zoe, understanding his pain, embraced him tightly, assuring him that it was okay not to be okay.
