Suddenly, I woke up in a hospital bed with my head pounding. "H-Huh?" I tossed over realizing that all of my body was more sore than my head. A doctor ran into the room, "Katrina?" "Who?" I had absolutely no memory of anything whatsoever. "You have amnesia. Your name is Katrina." This was too much! All I remember is my language! "Katrina Woodson is your full name. Your amnesia may or may not be temporary. That's not the point though, you were in a minor car crash and were in a coma for about a week and three days." Okay, this was way too much to take in! That driver better be sued. Even though the doctor talks like he feels that it's my fault. "Lucky for you, and your parents insurance, the driver did not press charges. He said you were looking at your phone." Oops, maybe that does somewhat sound like me. "Well, your parents want to see you now so I will let you all be." My parents rushed into the room, or who they said are my parents, "Oh my lord! Katrina! You're okay!" My mother sobbed as my dad put her in a gentle embrace, "We know you don't remember us but we brought you your diary so you can learn more about yourself. We also brought you some Chick-fil-A, it used to be your favorite." Geez, my parents are pretty awesome! Thanking them, they then left me with my food and diary.
Dear Diary, this is my first entry! My name is Katrina and I am six years old and also very sad right now. My best friend Caleb moved away today!
The name Caleb made my stomach have butterflies and my heart drop to my feet. My mom had quite obviously written this entry! There was no way a little girl could have done that. I continued reading to the next entry.
Dear Diary, this is my second entry and I am now eleven so I don't need my silly mother to write in this "diary" for me. I am still sad about Caleb moving away and would do anything to get him back where I am today.
Looks like some memories are good to lose.-Caleb's point of view (after the coma)-
I sure didn't get off on a good foot with my new roommate the other week. But, lucky for me, his slutty girlfriend never showed up. So far these weeks, I've repaired the picture frame and picture that my dumb roommate broke, had three tests, and have gotten weird looks from girls all over the school. If they 'like' me they should know I have my mind and heart set on Katrina. Sure it has been ten whole years but I don't think that I could ever forget such a beautiful and amazing girl. Hopefully she isn't ugly, I don't mean to sound shallow but I was eight years old the last time I saw her. That was ten years ago already! I'm sure she is gorgeous today. I walked into newspaper class (I was majoring in writing) and then my teacher greeted us, "Hello class! If you wanna be a writer, reporter or journalist, you have to know how to report! Today we will be watching Oakville News!" I was usually bored off my ass in this class but today I perked up. Oakville? Cool! I can't wait to see if the town had changed. "Last week, there was a tragedy occurring in Oakville. A teen was on her cellphone while walking in the street and got hit by a car." How upsetting! That's terrible. her picture showed up! Damn she is fine I thought, and the reporter kept on going. "The girl was hit by the car causing permanent amnesia. We're lucky that the girl was not killed. This girl, Katrina Woodson—" I tuned the rest out. Katrina? KATRINA? Oh my God! No this can't be happening! My best friend has amnesia. Permanent amnesia! She might not remember everything ever again!-Katrina's POV-
I read my diary more:
"Caleb was so cool when he lived in Oakville. I hope I meet him again someday!"
I smiled, wondering what Caleb looked like. I barely remembered him! I wondered if he knew me. I wondered where he was. I wonder a lot... Suddenly two girls ran in, "HEY GIRLFRIEND!" They yelled. I screamed in horror "AHHHH! STRANGERS!!" They stared at me blankly "Kat are you joking? we're your best friends! Just look at your texts!" She handed me my phone, I looked through the texts and laughed so hard I almost puked. I barely remembered them but I already feel closer to them than anyone ever! I smiled at them and giggled "So.. I'm Katrina right?" "Yep! And I'm Starr and that's Gracie." "You also have two other best friends, Serena and Sky." As if on cue, two gorgeous girls bounded in the room, "I. Like. Turtles!!!" The girl who said that began dancing around the room "I hear about your amnesia! But it's not that strong right? You know who I am!" The girl said grinning "Oh yeah! Hi Sky!" I said taking a random guess. "I'm Serena. That's Sky!" She pointed to the other girl, Sky smiled "Hey Kat! I hope you're okay!" "Yeah. Another day another dollar right?" Serena shook her head. "Nope! I just spent 20 bucks on this ceramic turtle!" She smiled. I slapped my forehead. "Oh goodness." Serena, Sky, Gracie, and Starr stayed for a long time, until they had to go, they all left and I felt so happy. I picked up my phone and smiled. I looked at a picture my mom sent me
"Just found this photo of Caleb in the school newspaper! He looks even more cuter than you remember I bet!"
The caption said. I giggled. Caleb was cute as hell alright. Suddenly I felt tired, very very tired. Spending a few days in a coma was not a ride on the comfortable train. Then I got a text. It said:
"Thanks for getting out of my way. Maybe I can get rid of Caleb, without you trying to find him. Sweet dreams "Sweetheart"! -Anonymous"
I stared. I didn't want my childhood bestie getting hurt! Even if I barely remembered him, he wasn't getting hurt, not on my watch, I will find Caleb. Whatever it takes I will.
