Opening their eyes, they found themselves in the same room as when they closed them. A small, confined space with a glass wall that functions as a door at the same time. Y/N didn't know how much time had passed. Minutes? Hours? Days? It was all so confusing, and all these newfound emotions made their head spin like a carousel. Then they remembered the android from the other cell. The one who didn't believe in rA9, not like they did.
"Hello..?", they called out, afraid of being too loud. They remembered how the cops came in the last time to quiet the android down. They sat there, waiting a few seconds. Nothing. "Are you there?". Their voice rose a little. Maybe the robot just didn't hear them? Again, nothing, even after letting a minute pass. "Are you okay??". A slight worry and the need to look overcame them, but there was nothing they could possibly do other than hope whoever's on the other side is okay. They let out a huff and sat down on the floor this time. The silence was absolute torture. It felt like Y/N could hear their own robotic heartbeat pumping blue blood through their body.
In the meantime, Connor sat at the empty desk opposite Hanks while he was in Captain Fowler's office. He decided to switch on the computer and go through the deviancy cases. All missions he and Hank couldn't solve, not even when they got at least a little closer, or at least that's how Connor felt. File after file after file. 'What is happening to them... and what is happening to me..?', he thought to himself. Memories of the mission at the Eden Club came back. The two androids were girls who were in love. Love was a foreign concept to Connor. He never thought about it, he had no reason to. But seeing the Traci's holding hands and protecting each other.. It made him think. A lot. How did they find out about this? How did it happen in the first place? How far would they go to keep each other safe? How does love even feel like.. Would he ever experience this himself? He shook his head as if to get rid of the questions at hand. He's an android. Not only that, but he's working to catch deviants, there's no way he could become one. He can't.
Then there was the android at Elijah Kamski's place, Chloe was her name. He couldn't shoot her, either. To him, it felt almost unfair to do that to an innocent person. Person.. No, she was an android, not a person. Connor couldn't think about that anymore, so he decided to get up and join Hank in the office. He was wondering why he was taking so long anyway. Entering the office, he was met with tension between Fowler and the lieutenant that was so thick, it felt like it could be cut with a knife. "This isn't just another investigation, it's a fucking civil war!", was the first thing Connor got to hear upon entering the office. Sitting on his desk, Fowler tried to reason with Hank, a look of 'there's nothing I can do' on his face, while Hank stood there, arms crossed. He tried to reason with the captain, telling him that the two of them were so close to cracking the case after putting in so much work and effort. Jeffrey took a deep breath, thinking carefully about his next words: "There's nothing I can do. You're back on homicide". Then he turned his gaze to Connor for a split second and said, "And the android returns to CyberLife". Connor stood there, taking in the information. He failed. He's going to be sent back to figure out why.
Connor looked at Hank, who just stood there, most likely feeling as much disappointment as he did. Or maybe it was frustration at not being able to finish the case. He didn't understand it well, but whatever it was, it pained Connor to see his partner like that. Then he left, leaving Connor and the captain in the room. He didn't know what to say or do. Looking at Fowler, he opened his mouth like he was about to say something but decided against it since he didn't even know what was appropriate to say in this situation. So he left the room also, going to join Hank on his desk, who was looking at the paperwork. But before he approached the lieutenant, the GJ200 popped up in his mind. What if there was something they could tell him? A last resort, perhaps? One last try. He turned around and made his way to the cells. The first one was empty. The android was taken away after trying to kill itself. Connor looked over to the second cell. There they were, sitting on the ground. The sound of a faint humming was coming out of the locked room. He stood there for a moment before taking another step forward.
Y/N noticed the new presence and looked to the glass, being greeted by the sight of the cop android, the RK800. "You came back?", they asked him, and they were able to receive a slight nod in return. "You need to help us," he said, and it awakened a curiosity in Y/N they didn't know they could have. So they stood up. "Do you know Markus?". Markus? They'd heard the name before, and they knew he was some sort of leader trying to save his kind. "Not personally.. I have never met him. I have just heard of him in passing conversation before I..". Their voice trailed off, and Connor understood what they were about to say, so he continued: "Can you tell me where he is? Do you know where Jericho is? I need to know..". Y/N looked at him with a puzzled look on their face. "I'm sorry, but no.. I've never heard of Jericho. I.. have not been among many androids, and I only know Markus because many humans talked about him, plus he was in the news, right?". Connor nodded at their statement and sighed. Nothing, again. He took a step back, about to walk back to Hank, when a voice interrupted his train of thought. "Please.. tell me what your name is", Y/N asked. He looked at her and said, "Connor. My name is Connor". A small smile spread on Y/N's face, finally knowing who the android was. "Is the other android in the other cell okay?". He looked over to where the first cell was. 'They don't know..', he thought, then looked at Y/N once more. "I'm not sure. He's not here. I'm sorry.". Y/N frowned a little but nodded. It was something they knew deep within them, but didn't want to believe it. They hoped to have someone to talk to while they were here.
Connor excused himself and walked away. There was so much confusion inside both of them, for different reasons. But there was one thing they were both confused about : emotions. Feeling them was weird. But while Y/N accepted them, or at least that they had them, Connor was still struggling with himself. He knew his position. He couldn't become a deviant and feel things. It isn't supposed to be like that. But is it really this important at the moment? He failed; that's what Fowler said indirectly. He's going to be taken apart. There must be something else.. Something both he and Hank are missing.
