(Notions And Potions)

Goren

I fell asleep very quickly that night. I didn't know, if it was because It had been kind of an odd day, or if it was just simply because of Elion's company, but the point was, that I had actually slept pretty well.

The first rays of sunlight lit up my room and made my desk cast a long shadow.
"Morning!" I exclaimed, as I sat up in my bed.
It creaked, when I leapt out of it. I felt a pair of eyes staring up at me and looked down.

"You look dreadful, Elion," I said, noticing his messy, sun bleached hair and dark circles hanging like weights underneath his eyes.

"No...go away."

"Someone's clearly in a mood, huh?"
I laughed and sat down on the floor.

"Fuck you, Goren," Elion said, the middle finger on his right hand sticking out from underneath the blanket, covering his scrawny body.

"Oh yeah?"
I began to try and pull the blanket off of him, to get him out of bed, but failed miserably.

"Just shut up..."
Elion buried his head into his pillow and mumbled something that he probably shouldn't have.

"Hah, got you!"
I whacked my surprisingly hard pillow, on the back of his head multiple times, and he grunted angrily in response.

"What the hell was that for?"
Elion sat up, and tried to block me with the thin woolen blanket. It didn't work.

"For hurting my feelings, idiot." I joked.
"You told me to go away and all that. Now I've got you!" I added, crawling on top of him while giving him a few more whacks.

"Well, you could've warned me?!" Elion roared, a slight tint of pink appearing on his cheeks.

"Nope, there's no fun in that." I smiled.

We stayed in my room, laughing our heads off, until my mum walked in. She was a slender woman, with the same hair colour as me, though her eyes were quite different. I liked my mum's eyes a lot. They had a sort of dark, yellow-ish colour, and reminded me of the same colour sand in the afternoon sun had.

"Morning, mum," I greeted her.

"Good morning, you two." she smiled, while scanning my room with her eyes. A confused look appeared on her face.

"Did you boys get into a fight or something?"

Elion's eyes met mine and I saw him biting his tongue.

"Well, Elion told me to fuck off, so I whacked him with my pillow."

"You didn't need to tell her that!"
Elion's lips twitched upward, his smile barely held together anymore. Tight and fragile, as though his skin was stretched too thin to contain his racing thoughts. He quickly hid his face in his hands, when he noticed me staring.

"Boys..." my mother sighed, though her eyes was sparkling with mischief. She walked out and a sigh of relief was let out besides me.

"What's up with you? You acted like she was going to hit you or... I dunno."
I felt a sudden need to comfort Elion, so I took his face in my hands, gently stroking a few strands of  hair out of his emerald green eyes.
He shook my hands off and looked away, not able to keep eye contact with me any longer.

"Just know, that my mum loves you."
I patted him awkwardly on his back.
"She thinks you're very brave and that Elion's a super cool name."

"Yeah...thanks."
Elion stood up, and was half way through the doorway to my room, when I stopped him.
