"May I take your order?"

He looked at me as if he didn't hear me. Those bright green eyes stared a hole through me, and I returned the favor. He really was handsome.

Then he said with soft tenor vocal, "You're smarter than that."

"Excuse me?"

He sighed at my response. "You know I didn't come to you for food. I can feel it and I can tell that you can too. You're the one for me, aren't you?"

All I do is stare into the emerald abyss of his eyes. Why can't I reply to him? I'm the one who always pulls them in closer, not have them pull me. As he took my hand, I couldn't help but blush. This mate was different.

As expected from both of us, our hands glowed bright red as our fingers interlocked. He smiled brightly as if he'd just received a million dollars. "I've been looking for you for years, and I've finally found you! Jonathan Peters, at your service."

"Ayla Goodman," I said softly.

I started to notice my unusual quietness. All else I could think of to say was exactly that was going through my mind. "I'm sorry, this is kind of a shock for me. I just don't really know what to say right now."

"Say you'll have dinner with me tonight."

I hesitated at the bold statement. "I'd like that."
