Yoonhee's monologue

I still remember that day when Gunwook walked into our classroom in year 1 of middle school. He had this slightly daunting aura. He was already quite tall and well-built then. I remember thinking that 'I don't want anything to do with that boy."

But life had its own plans. We were put into the same group for our science project. While working on that project together, I realised he wasn't hard to approach at all. He was good at science, so everyone agreed to let him take up the role of leader. When it came to work, he was always on serious mode, but there was also a very gentle side of him. He took great care of other members, and whenever they asked for assistance from him, he would patiently help them, even if it meant an increase in workload for him.

Once I got to know him, it was an endless discovery of his unexpected charms for me.

*Yoonhee's flashback to when she and Gunwook were in year 1 of middle school*

One day during breaktime, a girl came into our classroom with a calculator in her hands. I assumed she wasn't in our year because I had never seen her before. I looked at her name tag - 'Class 3-3 Park Eunbyeol'.

The girl went straight to the back of the classroom and stopped in front of Gunwook. She playfully hit Gunwook on the head with the calculator in her hands, taking him by surprise.

"It hurts, noona~" He said cutely.

Did I just see Park Gunwook doing aegyo?

"How could you forget to bring your calculator to school?" The girl told the boy off with a smile.

"I forgot to put it back in my bag after revising last night." He tried explaining himself.

"Keep it with you. I don't really need it anymore today."

"Thank you, noona. You're the best. I love you."

"Stop your sweet talking." The girl gently ruffled the boy's hair in a doting way.

The boy returned the biggest and sweetest smile. Rays of sunshine shone through the window, landing right on him. The corner of my lips raised without me knowing.

After the girl left, the guys around Gunwook, all huddled around him.

"Who's that pretty noona?" One of them asked.

"Is she by any chance your... girlfriend?" Another boy conjectured, earning a hard smack on his head.

"What the hell are you even talking about? She's my sister, like blood-related that kind of sister."

I was quite amazed by how close Gunwook was with his sister. I mean who on earth acts so loving to their sister, especially in their puberty ages. I was sure my brother wouldn't, I would be grateful if he could stop being annoying for just one second.

"You never told us that you have an older sister who's also studying in our school."

"Well, you never asked."

"If I had a pretty sister like that, I would brag about her all day long."

"Our noona isn't just pretty, she's also very smart. She's always top of the year." Gunwook said proudly.

"Does she have a boyfriend?"

"Don't you even think about it." Gunwook warned his classmates.

It was cute how he was so protective of his sister.

.

Was it then that I started falling for him?

.

I was staring at my exam papers, which I had just got back.
