Reincarnated as a Haunted House - Part 1 - The Serpent Forest

The Pixies

Thanks to the introduction that happened between Vansh and the pixies, Vansh finally had to think about his new identity. A new name for a new self was something he never thought of, but he knew deep inside that he needed it. Now he was Finn Darkling of the Nightmare.

The name Finn Darkling was not very popular in his previous world. It was just the first moment he had when he experienced his first haunted house when he was a child. The name of the haunted house was Nightmare. It was themed in such a way that people had to enter a few of the rooms of the house to find a pass to the next floor, where they were haunted by the master of the house, Finn Darkling.

The experience that he had when he entered Nightmare for the first time was very special and surreal for him. He went there many times to see what new they had added to the house. He even formed a strong bond with the owner of the house. However, the owner passed away one day, and the haunted house was shut down. After that day, even though Vansh couldn't visit his beloved haunted house and its owner, he still had its memories which he cherished, and a wealth of inspiration for his dream.

(Now that Vansh wants to be called Finn Darkling of the Nightmare, we also need to refer to him as Finn Darkling of Nightmare. Going forward, the name Vansh will not be used, instead, Finn will be used in its place)

Now that the introductions were over, everyone had become very comfortable in the house. Butterbell was searching the kitchen for some food with his sheathed sword hanging from his waist. Moonlight was sitting at the dining table, and Creambell was standing behind her with the staff in his hand, keeping an eye on Finn. Meanwhile, Finn was sitting a few chairs away from Moonlight, keeping an eye on Butterbell. But, little did the pixies know that Finn was using appraisal on them, and getting all their basic details on a transparent screen which only he could see.

First Finn used appraisal on Butterbell, and the transparent screen showed all the information on Butterbell. It wrote,

Threat Level – F

Description – Pixies are a humanoid race, who live mostly in the forests. The average height of a male pixie is 2.8 ft, whereas the average height of a female pixie is 2.2 ft. Pixies can communicate with each other through telepathy over a limited distance. Their skin and hair color also change according to the different seasons, making them very good at camouflaging. Since this is the winter season, their skin and hair color will change to white.

Height – 3 ft"

Finn then used appraisal on Creambell, and everything was the same. Then Finn used appraisal on Moonlight, but unlike her bodyguards, her details were entirely different.

"Pixie Queen

Threat Level – E

Description – A Pixie Queen is a unique pixie, who is born once a century. She is significantly taller than any other pixie. In addition to the traits of a typical pixie, she can also tame beasts lower than her threat level.

Height – 5ft," was displayed on the transparent screen

Meanwhile, Butterbell shouted as he rummaged through the cupboards and containers, "Hey ghost! Don't you have anything to eat in this kitchen?"

"Ghosts don't need to eat, you know," replied Finn with a slightly raised voice.

"Then what is this cauldron doing here?" asked Butterbell as he picked up the ladle from the cauldron.

"Maybe for someone like you to cook food," replied Finn.

Butterbell dropped the ladle back into the cauldron, causing a metallic clang to resonate throughout the house. Then he saw the top shelf of the kitchen, and some ceramic jars kept on it. However, the top shelf was too high for him. So he removed his coat and his sheathed sword and put them carefully on the bottom shelf.
