Chapter eleven - Chloe

I've been ignoring Diego for three days, since our kiss.

Today, we have Jayden's trial and I think he'll come but I don't know. 

"Honey are you ready?" My mom enters my room, with a smile.

"Yeah, let's go" She nods and we leave my bedroom.

"Coco are you ready?" My dad grabs his keys. Why does everyone keep asking me that?

"Yes, we're getting late" I'm nervous as fuck. I'll have to face Jayden again and that makes me anxious.

My parents and I leave the house and when we arrive, I notice we still have five minutes. I look around, no sign of Diego. I try to distract myself by looking at the people there, some I recognise, like Jayden's parents and siblings, Eve, a few of his friends, but some I don't. 

A well dressed man approaches me with a smile. "Chloe Benson?" 

"Yeah" He shakes my hand. The man is calm and weirdly happy.

"I'm officer Park, we spoke on the phone" Oh right. That's why he's happy, he wants Jayden in jail. "I'm glad you're here" He looks around and I try to guess the question he's about to do. "Where is Mr. Fontes?" He asks with a worried expression.

"I don-"

"Sorry if I'm late, traffic" Diego shows up behind Park and he turns to him.

Diego had a glow in him. He was hotter. His hair was a perfect combination between messy and classy, his clothes were... incredible, he was wearing a suit and I love men in suits. And of course, his smell, his Dior Sauvage cologne. My favourite sme- I mean, men perfume. 

"Mr. Fontes, hello, how are you?" He shakes Diego's hand.

"That will depend on how this trial will go" Good answer. Same.

"I understand. For now, I want you both close to each other so that it's easier for you to go on those chairs" He pointed at some chairs next to the judge. "It will start in..." Park looks at the clock. "1 minute and 42 seconds. Do you have any questions?" He smiles again.

"I do, two actually. When will we be called? And what are we supposed to say?" I ask him while Diego spots my anxiety. I noticed how he looked at my eyes with furrowed eyebrows. I was too nervous.

"You'll be called almost at the end, as for the other question, basically just answer what the judge asks you" He smiled politely, damn he was happy.

"Order in the court. Please be seated" The judge says as everyone begins to sit. Diego, my parents and I go to the front seat close to a tiny gate.

A few seconds after that, a lawyer walks in, greets the judge and court members and takes a seat at a large table.

Then, we see Jayden and his lawyer walking in, doing the same. Jayden had a black suit on and handcuffs, when he spotted me, he smirked, which gave me chills.

As the judge and the lawyers spoke, I felt like I was in a How To Get Away With Murder episode. Diego kept looking at me when I wasn't looking at him and I did the same. A little awkward but a comfortable awkward if that makes sense.

After some long minutes, the judge finally said what I was expecting. "Now, for credibility and evidence, I shall call Cooper's victim, Mrs. Chloe Benson" 

Okay breathe. I got up and walk to the chair Park pointed at when we were talking. I greet the judge and court members and sit down.

"Mrs. Benson, before you tell what happened, I need you to repeat after me. I solemnly declare and affirm that the evidence I shall give will be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth"
