"San hurry up man!"
Mingi ran up the stairs that led to a pair of large wooden doors, He was wearing a suit which he had clearly put on in a hurry, judging from the wrongly placed tie and the buttons being in the wrong hole but he had bigger problems right now.
He knocked on the door multiple times before it finally opened, revealing San who was also dressed up formally, except he was a bit more skilled with tying ties.
"We have only five minutes left before the meeting begins and you still need to go to the other side of the castle, your father is going to kill you if you're late right now!"
Mingi had already started making his way down the stairs with San on his heels as they sped through the ginormous halls that led them past a number of guest rooms, training rooms for the army, kitchens and an entire park placed inside the walls before they finally made it to the meeting room.
Calling the room big was an understatement, it was one of the biggest rooms of the castle. The roof was high enough for a giant to stand up straight in there and in terms of length, they could fit an entire apartment in there. The centre of the room contained a long table with chairs filled with people on the sides and at the end was a throne.
All of the people sitting at the table looked up when they opened the door, the man at the end of the table who was occupying the the throne pinched his nose in frustration.
"You're late son."
San excused himself and quickly made his way over to the empty chair next to his father. Mingi was right, he would most definitely get killed by the end of the meeting.
Everyone quickly forgot about the interruption and San's father started talking to break the silence, "I have called our monthly meeting to look over the achievements of the past weeks, it has been a standard procedure and I have always used my trusted team, you...," The man pointed a finger at the population surrounding the table who seemed to have really gone up in the starting speech, "However, this week there is a change. This week we welcome the newest member here with open arms, my son Choi San."
San stood up and showed respect by bowing, the rest of the group excluding his dad did the same and they all sat down again, allowing the king to continue.
"This month has been exceptionally busy as our troops managed to take down many groups of Wastelanders," The man showed a hint of disgust while naming them, "They have worked really hard and I was notified just yesterday that they managed to track down a code 4."
Everyone clapped including San and Mingi, San knew what code 4 meant, it meant a self-established town the wastelanders managed to build with a population of over a thousand, they were rare and usually resided at least a hundred kilometres from the nearest town.
"They managed to bring down all of the rats except for a small group of young people who would be perfect for a new game."
San moved uncomfortably in his seat, he knew exactly what his dad meant with the 'games' and he had always been against it, no matter how much he had been taught about them deserving it he still thought it was too cruel to force them to murder each other to survive.
"We also got informed about small protests forming in Redame which might become a problem if they keep happening and other people start getting involved."
San could hear his neighbours whispering to each other in shock, maybe it finally struck them that it was damn nearly impossible to keep millions of people living in shitty people under their fingers with nothing but killing any one of them they don't like.
San would probably have been sent to a psychic ward if he told people he actually didn't have much against the idea of a revolution. He would probably even have been killed for it if he wasn't the son of the king.
