"Kim Hongjoong!"

The crowd screamed their hearts out as one of the guys who had been standing a bit awkwardly in the back moved forward, he was on the shorter side but that didn't stop him from sticking out from the others.

His outfit was mostly purple, mixed with a black jacket. That explained why everyone was covered from head to toe in purple, his silver hair contrasted greatly with the outfit and it fit well together. San would be lying if he said the man wasn't handsome, he looked confident but not cocky, or at least he wasn't acting like it.

The man who had been announced as Hongjoong bowed deeply in a dramatic manner and smirked, maybe he was cocky after all...

"Why wasn't he in the magazines?" Asked San softly towards Mingi who was still mostly focused on the cars rather than the drivers.

"Well I did hear something about a driver who suddenly signed up for an available spot last year but he showed up wearing a mask and without a name, he pulled some stunt that made him win which made him loved but most Roses care mostly about looks so that mask didn't do him any good, he will probably be on every cover from now on though."

San nodded in acknowledgement, it made sense but why did he show up in a mask last year but not now? Maybe he just had a glow-up in the past year or something, it didn't even matter that much. If the man could deliver a show, it would be good.

The commentator spent another while introducing the drivers from this year before they finally made their way to their cars, people around them were still busy cheering and some voices already sounded exhausted from the amount of yelling they had done in the past 10 minutes, it was clear that the Lilys were being starved from entertainment like this.

The sounds of cars starting up slowly filled the sky and Mingi sat upright, finally, he didn't have to wait anymore to see the actual racing.

The cars made their way to the start, the most scrappy-looking cars went in front while the more sustainable and professional-looking cars were located in the back, that way it would be most fair.

Hongjoong's car perfectly represented his outfit, it was a mix of purple with black, and even the centre of the tires was purple. He or whoever worked on his car surely spent a lot of time and money on it. It was an old model that probably came from before the apocalypse yet he made it look brand-new the organisers thought the same because he was in the back.

Being in the back would be a slight disadvantage but it also brought pride with it, being in the back meant that you were a feared opponent and a fan-favourite which was a compliment, a lot of the other drivers would give up their advantage for that pride but only Hongjoong got it because of his win from last year.

"Are you guys ready for round 1?!" Screamed the commentator into the mic, hyping up the crowd which wasn't necessary anymore because everyone was already screaming for the race to begin, the beer was already being thrown around and some people already managed to get wasted.

San felt Mingi tense up when the commentator started counting down, everyone seemed to hold their breath while he counted down in the slowest manner ever, most of the cars were letting out low sounds to try and impress.

Some cars didn't seem as secure as they should be and San would bet a whole lot on that at least 3 cars would break down in the first race alone, but that was one of the better things about it after all. It wasn't so official as in the shows he would sometimes be allowed to attend by his dad, those were way too official and everyone treated him like he was made of glass, the races themselves weren't special either. It was barely about the race to begin with but about who had more expensive cars to show off.
