Let's talk about growing, getting recognition, and being seen on Wattpad.
Picture this, you're new to Wattpad, you finally published your first book. You check in one month later with the grand total of, 2 followers, 13 reads, 0 comments, and 1 vote (from yourself). I'll start by telling you this, this is a shared experience for EVERYONE. Now after over a year of My Moon being up, it has 3.3K reads, to a new user, and maybe that new user is yourself reading this, 3.3K might sound very little, compared to other books with like 2 million reads. But let me tell you THIS IS A LOT. OF. FUCKING. READS. And I and forever grateful.
If you have over 100 reads on your book, count yourself popular, because that is quite a lot. When you are on a platform competing with thousands of books, in only one fandom or genre, it is hard to get reads. So even if you "only" have 100 reads, consider yourself lucky, and welcome to the club. If you have over 30 followers, welcome to the club. At the time of writing this book, I have almost 200 followers, can you believe it??
I have over 100 reads on all my books, but you might be wondering. How do you get to that point?
BE AESTHETIC.;
I'm sorry, but to be blunt, if your book looks like shit, no one will read it.
For starters, take into account the first 3 chapters, these are your first jumping-off points.
Here's a list of things that may be preventing people from reading your book:✏ Covers
✏ Titles
✏ Layouts
✏ Bad formatting
✏ Terrible dialogue
✏ Improper use of your writing p.o.v.
✏ bad acc; i.e.- profile picture, bio, theme; Stop having 5 paragraphs for your bio or please go burn yourself.
✏ Chapter titles
