This list contains BL movies and BL-related movies (i.e. movies with actors who are famous for their roles in BL series or movies) that I think are worth watching. Whenever a trailer is available, I've added the link. If no trailer is available, I've added either a link to the full movie, or a photo. Like all my lists, this isn't meant to be objective, but it may give readers a clue which movies may be worth watching. Many movies listed here can be found on youtube. If  there's a movie you don't find on youtube or other sites, contact me. I may be able to help.

I chose a photo from "Kalel, 15" as the header of this list, because Elijah Canlas is the lead actor in no less than five of the movies on this list!

Kalel, 15

Filipino movie,  2019, 105 mins., my rating 10/10

This movie is black-and-white, it's sad, it's brutal sometimes, and yet it's one of the most beautiful movies I've ever watched. Elijah Canlas rightly earned international recognition and best-actor awards for his outstanding portrayal of an HIV-infected boy, the movie itself gained prizes for the unvarnished description of the social reality in the Philippines. There are some steamy scenes, but this is no BL movie.

Awards: Jun Lana best director /Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival 2019, Elijah Canlas best actor / Harlem International film Festival 2021 and Asian Film Festival 2020  and more.

About Us But Not About US

Filipino movie,  2022, 91 mins, 10

From the same writer/director as "Kalel, 15", Jun Robles Lana, a breathtaking chamber play with a brilliant Elijah Canlas and Romnick Sarmenta. Masterpiece. This is a gay-themed movie, a thriller full of suspense.

Awards: Metro Manila Summer Film Festival 2023, best director, best actor, best cinematography and many others, Elijah Canlas best actor at GAWAD Tanglaw Awards 2023.

My Beautiful Man: Eternal

Japanese movie, 2023, 103 mins., 10

The two seasons of the series are among my all-time favourites, and so is the movie. What a journey this has been! Can't get enough of Kiyoi and Hira, my beautiful men, and the brilliant actors Hagiwara Riku and Yagi Yusei!

Lihim

Filipino short film, 2021, 23 mins., 10

This is an amazing short film which made me cry every time I watched it, and I watched it several times. Kaleb Ong and David Revilla at their very, very best. The movie wasn't available online for some time, but now it is there again, albeit without English subtitles. But I don't think they are needed to understand it.
