"Ladies and gentlemen, dinner is served." Louis said out loud. He then sat down at the table consisting of him, Marlon, Ruby, Clem, Yulia, and AJ.
"Thanks." Clem said.
Yulia lifted up her spoon and brought the hot food to her mouth, instantly putting a smile on her face, "Oh wow! This is so good!" she exclaimed, turning to Clem. "Clem, how long has it been since our last hot meal?"
"Like, forever." Clem answered before continuing to eat. AJ then lifted up his bowl and started to drink out of it like a big gallon of water. Everyone looked over at him as he did so. Yulia put her hand on his shoulder, "AJ, buddy. You're gonna choke." she said in her usual kind tone. AJ put it down, showing the brown food around his mouth.
Suddenly, Louis let out a burp, catching everyone's attention. Ruby made a face of disgust at the boy, "Ugh, come on!" But AJ also let out a burp, with his empty bowl still in hand. Yulia giggled the boys' childishness, even if it was a little gross. "AJ! That's gross!" Yulia said to AJ as she laughed a little more while also trying to sound serious.
"But you're laughing." He pointed out.
"I know, but still." she then said, calming down a little and continuing eating her food. Ruby then spoke up as AJ decided to eat more properly, "Just because everything else died, doesn't mean manners did."
"I'll say goodnight." She said before turning her body to get off the bench and leave.
"Goodnight." AJ said.
Clem nudged Yulia's arm a little, grabbing her attention, "Thanks, Yules." she whispered not so quietly. Yulia didn't say anything and returned her thanks with a smile. "Yules, Clem." AJ then said in a sad way. The two looked over to see that AJ's bowl was now empty.
Yulia put her hand on the back of AJ's tiny afro, "I'm sure they gave as much as they could." she smiled. Louis then looked down at his bowl, but then back at AJ.
"AJ. Heads up!" he said, pushing his bowl over to AJ. "I'm full, kiddo. You can have the rest."
"You sure?" Clem asked.
"You bet."
"I'm all done." AJ suddenly said as he put Louis' bowl down. Clem nodded, "Mhm, me too."
"Same." Yulia said.
"Now what?" AJ asked. "I'll tell you what." Louis says, getting up and flipping his chair backwards and then sitting down. "Time for something... very important." he then said, holding up a deck of cards. Brody then walked by, "Oh, god. Goodnight." she said.
"Violet! It's time!" Louis called her over, to which she came and sat down next to Marlon.
Marlon started to collect everyone's bowls, when he turned to Yulia and AJ, Yulia immediately grabbed hers and AJ's and handed it to him with a big smile on her face. She wanted to help out anyway she could. Marlon returned the smile. "Thanks." he said, blushing a tiny bit at Yulia's kindness.
He then cleared his throat, "What's the game tonight, Lou?"
"War." Louis said. "The oldest game around. A game played by man and beast alike. The only game there is."
"Sounds fun. How do we play?" Clem asked.
"It's easy. Everyone gets a stack of cards, everyone flips one over. Highest card wins." Violet explained the rules to the girls.
"And the winner gets to ask Clem or Yulia a question." Louis then mentions. Clem glared at Louis while Yulia's eyes lit up with excitement. "What? We wanna get to know you two. And besides, Yulia seems quite excited."
