The bell beeped in a gentle, rhythmic tune as Ophelia Williams slid her backpack over her shoulder. She waved to a few other girls, catching a soccer ball from one of them, and slipped out of the pocket-sized theater into the hallway.
"Hey, Kam!" Ophelia jogged down the hallway toward a blonde at the bottle refill station. She leaned against the nicely painted wall and smirked at the shorter girl. "There's a party at Marco's tonight. You wanna catch up there?"
Kamryn scoffed, rolling her crystal blue eyes and shaking her head. "Catch up? You mean look for an empty room to get down in?"
Ophelia smiled a bit, shrugging her shoulders. She tossed the soccer ball around a few times, waiting for Kamryn to finish tightening her water bottle.
"I'd rather not." Kamryn stuffed her water bottle in the side pocket of her backpack. "Weren't you talking to Julia yesterday about your soccer game?"
"It's a soccer game." Ophelia chuckled, stepping to walk beside the performing arts major. She frowned when Kamryn paused.
"I found her nudes on your phone, Lia." Kamryn rolled her eyes, slapping the soccer ball out of Ophelia's hands. "Go sleep with some other girl. I'm done wasting my time on you."
Ophelia dove down to scoop up the soccer ball before it could roll away and get confiscated again. She stood back up and scoffed, waving a hand after Kamryn.
"I didn't even sleep with her! She just sends me pictures for...art critique!" Ophelia called after the girl, slumping against the wall when Kamryn threw up a middle finger and continued walking to lunch with her friends. "Damn. Just my luck."
"Good morning, Miss Williams."
Ophelia darted up from the wall and hid her soccer ball behind her back. She smiled at Brittany Pierce, relaxing slightly once she knew it wasn't the dean.
"Good Morning, Miss Pierce." Ophelia tucked her soccer ball under her arm. "You look great this morning. How are you?"
"Thank you, Ophelia. I'm good." Brittany chuckled, brushing down her usual laid-back outfits to ensure she could effectively teach her dance classes. "I was hoping to touch base about your mentor ship today? I think it might be best to start Monday. Lilly's having a hard time adjusting and Grace and I agreed we do not want to push this, so she's going to adjust to her division first and start meeting with Quinn instead."
"Right. Lilly." Ophelia sighed, though she kept her smile up to please the woman. "That's cool. I don't mind starting another day."
"Thank you." Brittany stepped to the side like she would walk away but stopped and turned back to the auburn-haired seventeen-year-old. "And I know you have plans with Jay and Luke tonight, but could you invite Lucy? Just to be nice. If not, I get it."
"Oh, yeah! No problem at all, Aunt B." Ophelia laughed, nodding her head instantly. "You know about Marco's...birthday party?"
"Yeah. Luca told me earlier." Brittany confessed. "I'm on my way to drop a hint to Quinn that the girls are going, but I think Lucy's a little out of place still, if you don't mind her tagging along."
"I'd love for her to come," Ophelia closed her eyes and chuckled as Brittany tapped her nose. "Thanks for being cool."
"Thank you for mentoring Lilly." Brittany glanced up and down the hallway before stepping a little closer. "Seriously, thank you."
