Prologue

Sobs filled the room as Alice's family watched her fade slowly. She had been diagnosed with an incurable disease a few months previous. It seems she only had a short time left. Her eyes were dull, not the usual bright blue and her face was deathly pale.

She could feel her time running out.

Clutching her mother's hand, she managed to croak out her final words:

"Goodbye, everyone. I love you all very much..."

BEEEEEEEEEEEP.
She was...

Alice's POV:

Where am I?
I though, opening my eyes slowly. I was in a dark room.
"Hello?!" I said, my voice cracking. I could remember almost nothing about my past. I know a few things such as my name, interests, stuff like that, but nothing about any family or where I come from.

Suddenly, I heard a robotic sounding voice.
"Hello, Alice Davis." It said monotonously. "Your brain has been checked thoroughly and we have found your ideal heaven. You will be sent there shortly. We have also slightly changed your appearance. Have a nice day."

Wait... WHAT?!!

This was a lot to take in. I mean, I just died for crying out loud! Anyway, I wonder where I'm going!
As if my thoughts had been read, a screen appeared. On it was a picture of me, but... As a neko? Okay, that's cool. I do love cats. Slightly odd though. I look basically the same, but with cat like features. Cat ears, a tail, you know. I looked under the picture.

'Transporting to: The world of Hataraku Maou-Sama!'

Okay, I almost screamed. I mean, who wouldn't?! It is one of my favourite anime shows ever! I loved everything about it! Including a certain purple-haired fallen angel. Hehe...

But seriously, wow. My head must be messed up. I mean, going into an anime world as a cat person is my sort of heaven? That's gotta be kind of odd.

All of a sudden, there was a blinding flash of light and I passed out.
