Chapter 12: Soul Mates

Alice's POV:

I'd ran for almost an hour straight. I could hardly feel my legs! Eventually, I arrived at my destination.

The lake in the woods.

I sat down, and stared into the clear water. Slowly, my tears dropped down into the water, creating ripples over the pristine surface.

How could he? How could he do this to me?

I frowned, remembering the previous evening. We had promised that we'd let nothing come between us...

...That we'd always be happy.

Together.

Yet again, I couldn't help myself, and began to sob.

All of a sudden, I heard the sound of someone running.

"Alice! Alice where are you!" The voice called.

No... It couldn't be...

Lucifer?

Lucifer's POV:

I didn't care how tired I was. I didn't care if I died, I just needed to get to Alice.

After running around almost all of the city with no luck, I finally remembered.

The woods!

I immediately sprinted to where she almost definitely was.

Still Luci's POV:

"Alice! Alice where are you!" I shouted. I didn't care how stupid I looked, I needed to find her.

All of a sudden, I came to a halt. There she was.

Her lovely golden hair all messed up, head in her hands. She looked up at me, and I immediately felt as though I'd been shot.

Her eyes were bloodshot, tear stains were all over her cheeks. She had a fair share of scratches and scrapes from running through the woods.

"W-What do you want f-from me?" She said, voice like a whisper.

"I want to explain." I simply said. She was obviously too tired to argue, so she just nodded.

"Emi thought that if we were in a relationship, with me being a demon, I would... Hurt you. So she took it upon herself to tear us apart. That's why she kissed me." I said. She stared at me in utter shock. I couldn't stop there.

"Alice, I would never hurt you. If I were to hurt you, it would hurt me. I love you so, so much. Every day, I find myself falling head over heels in love with you again." At this point, tears were falling down my face. I never cry, but this girl... She's changed me. I collapsed to my knees burying my face in my hands, tears still falling.

I felt arms wrap around my shoulders, hugging me close. Looking up, I saw Alice's bright blue eyes. I pulled her down into my lap and hugged her close.

"Lucifer, I never stopped loving you, and I never will. From the day I woke up here, I fell for you. I've never believed in stuff like this, but you made me think... Maybe we're soul mates."
She said.

I couldn't help but grin from ear to ear.
I planted my lips on hers in a brief, yet passionate kiss, and then we stood up, as I took something out of my pocket. Holding out her hand, I opened the box to reveal two promise rings. One turquoise, one purple. (A/N in my head, they kinda look like mood rings, with how they change colours and stuff? I'll probably put up a picture.)

"In Ente Isla, we would occasionally use these as bind between two lovers. I don't want to rush things and get married yet, but these rings are said to ward off any evil that can harm our relationship." I placed the purple one on her finger, saying a few words in Ente Islan, before doing the same with her turquoise one. Intertwining our fingers, the rings glowed and the colours slowly morphed, both changing into a golden colour. My grin grew, and I picked her up hugging her close.

"This proves it Alice! When two lovers wear their promise rings, if the colour changes gold, they are soul mates."

Putting her down and holding her hand, watching the colour change gold one more time, we walked back to the apartment.

And so, the two lovers walked back, hand in hand. It was obvious the two had never been more in love. They say love is stupid, but that's what love does to you. It messes with your head, makes you crazy for your beloved.
