Shutting the door behind him as we both enter his Barcelona house, he throws the key at the delicate bowl sitting at the side table. I take in the beauty of his home but I'm also hoping to have the first words and show him how mad and angry he has made me these days.
The anger melts as I walk in the living room and see a sorry card with pastel pink and white balloons hanging from the ceiling. There are pink roses on the table and a Dior bag.
No. No. No.
Focus Nina.
I look at him squarely in his eyes trying hard to wipe the smile off of my face. There is a gleam in his brown eyes so I hardened my gaze further. He firmly stands his ground, arms crossed, muscles tensing beneath his shirt fabric. The look pisses me off and I go on without a warning.
"How dare you Carlos Montes to question my character? You think you're some celebrity shit and I'll take your bullshits as it is just because you come from money. News flash we are in the twenty first century and no self respecting girl would do that. Stephen is like a brother to me. He will come to my house day, night, noon, evening and if you want me in your life you'll have to adjust with that. I do not have a blood family but I intend on keeping the one's that I have made throughout my twenty five years and I won't be changing shit for anyone okay."
"Okay." He looks at me, an unknown emotion running through his eyes.
"What?"
"I said okay. I'm not asking you to stay away from Stephen or any of your family. I was not going to anyway. I realized I should've talked to you instead of being mad."
"Good," I said way too aggressively. But then his words register and I try calming myself down. I sit down on the couch and let out an exhausted sigh. "I thought you were going to fight."
He moves forward, squatting on the floor in front of me. "I really don't care about the fight or what was the issue. You look hot and I'm trying hard not to kiss you senseless right now."
The urgency and desperation with which Carlos makes that statement makes me blush. "Well , don't. I need a moment to cool down."
He shakes his head as if trying to let that sink in.
I pick up the flowers and smell it.
"I didn't know what to get you. I hope you like it," Carlos say, gesturing at the package.
I take it and open the box lid. Its a small handbag. "I love it. You didn't have to."
He shrugs.
"But this," I say picking up the flowers back and hugging them. "This is expensive."
"Is it." He leans against the open kitchen counter and crosses his arms across his chest again.
His eyes intimidate me. They are dark and strong like coffee. Suddenly the room seems smaller.
I move to the kitchen to help myself with water as my throat decides to become Sahara.
"You got your moment to cool down?" He asks from somewhere behind me. Somewhere close.
I am sure the color drains from my face as I nod, words failing me.
"Okay." My breath hitches as I feel his voice on my neck.
I don't get a minute to catch back my breath as both his hands hold my waist and he spins me around pulling me in a bruising kiss.
My back digs into the fridge handle, making my eyes water but I don't care.
"I missed you," he says against my lips, his voice soft; a stark contrast to how he is kissing me.
I try to form a response but instead a moan slips free. Carlos mutters a curse and picks me up, placing me somewhere close. He places a chaste kiss on my lips and then he spins me again pushing into the counter, where he was leaning on minutes ago.
