Grown up

14 years later:

I feel so excited! I am turning 19 soon-I get to join the pack for real, and know all the secrets of a werewolf!

I turned to Dante and smiled, "Have you seen Dana?"

Dana is our best friend. We met her on the first day of kindergarden, bonding over sweet marshmallows during snack time and have been a Trio ever since.

"Yeah she says she will be here soon."

Over the years, our packs have merged to become one, expanding our territory, with Daddy and Uncle George still reigning as Alphas of their respective land, kind of like an alliance.

Tonight is the meeting, information about being an adult wolf will be given, we now have specific roles to play in the pack, and are expected to act accordingly.

The smell of Fruity Lychee hit me as someone covered my eyes from behind, "Guess who?"

I rolled my eyes, "Who can it be? Dana!"

She laughed, "Of course it's me! Come on, let's go to school! It's our last day!"

Dana is such a bright, cheerful girl with a great sense of humour and impeccable taste with fashion. She was dressed in a light blue maxi dress, matching her eye colour, her dark blonde hair straightened to perfection.

She looked me over approvingly. "Seems like you've taken my fashion tips to heart, along with Dante over there."

I was wearing a cream coloured blouse and black skinny jeans with Dante wearing just a plain shirt and jeans, and he managed to look good!

Classes flew by quickly and the last bell rang, jumping out, we decided to go out and celebrate our graduation.

But try as I might, I couldn't feel happy at all. School had been stressful, and I felt that I cant seem to do well, no matter how hard I tried. Dana and Dante had tried to encourage me but I just felt that they couldn't understand what I was going through. I didn't want to spoil their mood about graduation and the pack meeting, and tried my hardest to seem normal. I had become excellent at playing a normal happy young adult.

We went out for dinner at Pastamania, ordering pepperoni pizza, chicken wings and many other delicious food. At around 8pm, we left for the pack meet at Souther, a mansion in the middle of both packs' land.

"Welcome to Souther, after a long journey of education and maturing, you have now come to the start of your future lives as adults of the pack." Alpha Kyle said. "Tonight you will be briefed about the possible routes you have for your future by me and Alpha George, and

later on the girls will follow both Lunas and boys will stay, to be informed about Mates."

"Some of you may be feeling lost, after having graduated, and now waiting for the release of results from the school. In the pack, we have several roles that you can take up temporarily, to try out, experience, before you make any decision." Alpha George announced. "In the pack, there are many important roles, mainly Patrollers, Defense/ Combat (DCs), Healers, Peacekeepers as well as assistant Alphas and Betas. You can choose to experience these jobs, but be responsible and commit to the allocated time. If for some reason, you choose neither of them, that's also fine. This will be a time of discovery of self, which is very important."

As I listened, my heart clenched and I feel like crying. I have no idea what to do with my life. Breathe, I told myself, you can vent when you are alone. Closing my eyes, I continued listening.

"The role of Patrollers will be to run patrols along the borders and to keep an eye for any suspicious objects or wolves around, alerting DCs. The DCs will be trained to deal with almost any kind of situations, like presence of Rogues, Loners etc. As for Healers, they will be mainly people with medical background, but trained to cope with any medical injuries at the pack hospital. The Peacekeepers will be the ones liaising with the other packs, negotiating peace treaties etc."

Alpha Kyle took over. "As for the role of Alpha/Beta/Luna assistants, we will personally screen through potential candidates, we strongly suggest that everyone attend the lectures that we will be having, to get a sense of what it's like. If you are interested in any roles, you can speak to the respective in-charge, you will get a reply asap. Thank you. Now will the girls follow the Lunas please. And thank you in advance."

We girls follow the Lunas. "You must be curious about Mates, since the school didn't really told you much about it."

"We are not destined to have mates. We can choose our own mates, not just be tied to one person. Before your teenage years, you were told not to date. There is a reason for it. You may end up acting rashly in the heat of the moment."

"Before the age of 18,you are still in the midst of developing, maturing and may not make wise decisions about your future partners. After your 18th birthday, you will be more mature."

"You will feel a pull of attraction towards boys that subconsciously you are attracted to and is compatible with you in most aspects, same for the boys, but you Will not be forced into making any decisions before you are ready."

"You can go through the dating process, however long you want, but over 90% of mates go through the mating within 6 months. Once you are mated, you are essentially married and will complete the mating on your marriage night."

At this, both Lunas blushed. "The reason of half a year is that most would already have a boy in mind and generally they will be people you know. Nearing the Eclipsal Night, girls will go through Moon Heat and will have the urge to consummate, permanently marking your Mates."

"During the act of Mating, mates will bite each other somewhere, to show that they are taken. During the peak, you will be connected to your mates for the night, of and don't worry, you wont get pregnant that night, but you may during subsequent Heats which the length will occur differently based on individuals. If you want to know more, you can consult doctors on your estimated length."

"Now do you have any questions?"

We girls just stared opened mouthed at each other. My mind is in a whirl. How am I going to face my guy friends tomorrow knowing all this information? It seems too private to share with different genders! Slowly we shook our heads, and someone piped up "Umm, we will approach you in the future if we think of anything, I think our minds are blank now."

They just laughed. "Sure, welcome to stop by anytime. Now you can go home"

It was midnight when we reach home, and I fell asleep to thoughts of how to not feel awkward with the guys tomorrow.
