First Patrol

I woke up brimming with energy. My S3 chimed, I had Whatsapp messages from Dante and Dana in the group chat, both telling me they signed up for almost all the roles, to experience all of them which might be useful in the future, and to tell me they signed ME up too! Wow, what happened to asking for consent....

I replied ok to them both, then went to take a shower to dress for the day. My phone vibrated with messages.

Dante: Wakey now-our first Patrol lesson start after breakfast,led by Drake the Head Patroller. 1 week trial.

Dana: Hurry up Alley, we waiting outside with your food!

Me: Kay-showering first- be out in 20mins!!

Dana: Ok! Cya!

Dante: Showering? Can I join you? :P

Dante: Just kidding!

Dana: Dirty Danny! :)

Me: Yeah perv-ing on me eh Danny? Ok stop. i wanna shower now, Bye!

Chuckling, I locked my phone and picked out sportswear. This is the first time Dante's said something like that-he's more of a quiet type in school.

He looks like a really hot model with his dark brown hair that blackened through the years, well all wolves does, some are just better looking. He is the captain of the badminton team and an ace student.

He is aloof with strangers, but goes crazy when you get to know him well. Dana, me and him are known as the Crazed Trio in school. We attended Wolfspring High, no humans allowed and know everyone as we belong to the same pack.

However he's still quiet compared to the jocks, usually of higher rank in the pack. He hates it when girls flirt with him- they love his quiet, mysterious Alpha looks.

The moment he saw me walk out of the house, he tackled me in a big hug. Oof, we hit the ground with a thud, knocking the breath out of me with Dana snickering as she looked on.

"Oi Dante!" I yelled, pushing him off. He laughed sheepishly, "Dana made me do that." He pointed to her with a innocent look. She just grinned. "I wanted to see your reaction, here's our peace offering."

She handed me a cup of mocha frappe from Starbucks and Dante a bag of pastries and chocolate tarts.

"Thanks!" I wolfed them down hungrily, walking and eating at the same time. We have to reach Souther fast. Punctuality is one of the rules there.

Running fast, we managed to reach there in time, slipping through the doors before they closed and auto-locked.

Drake stood. "Good morning to all, thank you for being on time. Let me brief you more about what being a Patroller is like."

They had signed us up for Patroller, DC, Healer, Peacekeeper then ABA (Alpha Beta's assistants), then Others-about the smaller roles, all one to two week trials conducted in groups of 10 to 50 depending on role and capacity. Other role's trials are also conducted concurrently to allow all young adults to participate. The trials will last a total of 2 months maximum, then we can pick one.

He continued. "First of all, being a Patroller requires you to have great endurance and teamwork.Why teamwork? You will be working in groups to patrol the territory at specific times and have to work closely together at all times."

"Endurance is required as we can spend up to 6 hours running non-stop just to cover the routes. Our territories combined together covers the size of twenty ranches, you know how large just one ranch is. That's why we require lots of Patrollers."

"Being a Patroller means that we are the first line of defence for the pack in case of any emergencies, like pack wars. Our role is to make sure no unknown wolves sneaks into our territory and if found, we escort them to the Alphas to deal with."
