                      New Home

Kim was home and she looked...different. I was heartbroken.  I kept crying thinking about it, she wasn't herself. She didn't sound the same, she barely smiled and when she did it seemed forced, the clothes she wore always looked way too big because she was so skinny.

Most of the time she stayed in the room alone, but every once in awhile I'd come in. "Knock knock." I said going into her room.

She was sleeping, she looked so at peace. I got in the bed with her and just watched her.

Life seemed so cruel. One day everything is good, and the next is like the complete opposite.

"Stop staring at me, it's creepy." She groaned. "Sorry, I was just admiring you. You look at peace when you're sleep." I said propping my head in the palm of my hand.

"I am." She said. "But I don't like an audience." She chuckled. It was the first time she genuinely showed emotions other than sadness.

"Okay I'll let you sleep." I started to get up. "No, stay. I'm up now." She said.

I laid on my back, "Okay."

"How was California?" She asked.

"It was better than I thought it would be. I learned so much about myself and met so many people. It's different from Dallas." I said.

"How?" She questioned.

"Well for one it's busier, more fast paced. Everyone is fighting to get to the top, they all want to be famous— like everyone you meet is trying to model, act, make music and be a director..." I said.

"Dallas, is just Dallas. Slow paced, more genuine people than LA, but it's not inspiring. It doesn't motivate me to work harder or to try to reach the top." I said.

"What's the end plan for you?" She asked. "I just want to make a name for myself, live in a big luxurious house and have a family. What about you?" I inquired.

"Well I like the slow life. I want to be a stay at home wife, I want to homeschool my kids— I want acres of land, for them to play in; and a big farm house they can freely run around, a few dogs, and whatever else comes along." She said. "I just want to live a happy, carefree life." She gave a weak smile.

"That sounds cool, how many kids you want?" I asked. "Uhh about five. I think a big family fits me. I'm already pregnant so I'm already starting." She said all so casual.

"Excuse me? I'm going to be an aunt!" I perked with excitement. "This is so perfect! When are you due? Is it a girl or a boy? What are you naming i-" She held her hand up. "One question at a time Melia." She said

"When are you do?" I asked. She looked down, "I don't know, I haven't even been to the hospital." She said.

"Well we can go tomorrow, I'll set up the appointment tonight." I said pulling out my phone. "Not so fast, we're not done talking about you yet." She said.

"What about me?" I asked. I didn't care to talk about me anymore, I was about to be a aunty! I needed to be at every appointment and be apart of everything she did from here on out.

"What's your love life like?" The real question she wanted to ask was if Ace and I were still in communication.

"I have a man, his name is Rome." I answered. "Hm, he stay out here?" She asked. "No, we're doing the long distance thing. But you'll meet him soon, he'll be out here this week." I said.
