VERENA

"Just a heads-up. My mom can be over dramatic which is sometimes annoying so I apologise beforehand for her."

Asael stood beside me with a bouquet of flowers in his hand which he insisted on buying for some reason.

"I have met my fair share of people. I am sure I can handle her." He replied smoothly, staring ahead at the door.

"You know you could have given this bouquet to me only, I would have really appreciated it."

He gave me a pointed look from the corner of his eyes. "And why should I have done that?"

I shrugged. "People bring flowers for their girls."

"You are not my girl."

"Ouch. I'll try to take no offence to that." I gave him a look full of disappointment. "On that note, what does it take to be your girl?"

He remained silent and growing impatient, rang the doorbell himself. "I don't have time for all this."

"Yet, you are here with me as my boyfriend. I know you secretly adore me a lot." I grinned.

He grabbed my shoulder and shoved me away making me scowl at him but his lips tugged up in a small, amused smile.

Before I could shove him too, the door was pulled open by the butler of our house who smiled upon seeing me.

"Mr and Mrs Satori are waiting for you in the drawing room."

I smiled and nodded at him and he stepped aside to let us inside.

Making sure Asael was following me, I went in the direction of our drawing room.

"Verena!" Mom exclaimed as soon as she saw me, jumping out of her seat and rushing over to me with Dad right behind her.

I was engulfed in a tight hug which cut off my air supply as Mom swayed me from side to side. "Oh, I missed my baby."

"Mom." I groaned.

She chuckled, planting a loud kiss on my cheek and pulling back.

She turned her attention to Asael as he extended the bouquet over to her. Instead of taking the bouquet, she hugged him too.

He was much taller than her so she couldn't smother him like me. Asael stood there frozen, his eyes sliding over to me, silently pleading for some help.

I stifled my laugh and watched him awkwardly pat my Mom on her back once.

Thankfully, Mom didn't kiss his cheek and pulled back quickly, firing one question after another at him.

Dad chuckled bringing my attention to him and I went over and gave him a quick hug.

"Okay." Dad placed his hand on Mom's shoulder. "That's enough for now, darling."

He pulled Mom to his side before shaking Asael's hand.

They both were already acquainted so it was a plus point. Dad looked extremely happy as he talked with him.

Soon, the dinner table was set and we all settled around it with Asael and I next to each other.

My parents sat opposite us, Mom was practically beaming at us. "Look at you two." She gushed. "You both look so good together."

I glanced at Asael who somehow managed to not look uncomfortable and offered my Mom a small smile.

I felt so grateful that he wasn't being rude. He had his charm on and it made my heart skip a beat.
