WALKING STRAIGHT TO HER ROOM, y/n dropped her bag and fell on her bed. all she wanted to do now was sleep and forget about everything. but then, she remembered iwaizumi's words, her clothes were wet and if she doesn't get them off right away, she will get sick. she lazily got up from her bed and walked towards the shower after looking for a shirt and sweatpants in her closet.
she slowly got in the bath tub after filling it with warm water, a sigh escaped her lips as she massaged her arms and threw her head back.

closing her eyes, her mind started replaying every single thing that happened today, from the very beginning where those mean girls pinned her against the wall and started ripping off her sketchbook pages into million pieces, then moved to the moment where they threw all of her school supplies in the toilet and the worst part where they locked her in the club room and she started shouting for almost half an hour until one of the teachers heard her and unlocked the door. she quickly opened her eyes, panting heavily. her eyes began to water again as she recalled everything. she could still hear their laughters ringing in her ears.

please make it stop..

pulling her knees close to her chest, y/n shook her head and tried to push these haunting thoughts away, but it's easier said than done. she couldn't forget what they did, it wasn't easy at all.
but then suddenly, the darkness disappeared and it was replaced with a tiny light. that light being iwaizumi, the guy who listened to her and said that he will protect her, the one who gave her his jacket and asked her to change her clothes and dry her hair quickly so she wouldn't get sick. her lips slowly curled up into a smile but it quickly faded.

is he one of them?

what if he was lying?

there's no way a person like him would like to be seen with me.

why is he being nice to me..

that light she saw earlier was gone away, slowly vanishing. after everything she's been through, she can't trust anyone that fast anymore. but something about iwaizumi made her believe that there are still nice people who are willing to look out for their friends.
shaking her head, she got out of the bathtub and quickly wrapped a towel around her, she then made her way towards her room. her eyes checked the window and saw how the sky was painted with dark grey, hinting that it could rain any second now. sighing, she wore her pajamas and got under the warm blankets after drying her hair.

y/n suddenly felt a light weight on her legs, she lifted up her head to see her cat, ramen. she smiled and patted her chest, asking him to come closer. he looked at her for few seconds before slowly walking towards her and nuzzling his face against her chin, she smiled softly as she gently ran her fingers through his white fur.

"ramen, they treated me badly again.. they did many horrible things to me and i couldn't do anything about it, im such a coward.."
y/n spoke as she kept petting her cat, ramen licked her fingers before slowly biting them. she giggled and pulled back her finger, slowly rubbing the spot. he probably didn't want her to call herself a coward.

"but.. when i was crying, someone found me and comforted me in their own way, it was a boy, he goes to my school too, his name is iwaizumi hajime. he even said that he will protect me from those bullies, do you think that he meant what he said?"
she tilted her head to the side as she softly asked ramen, and in response, the cat rubbed his head against her cheek.

"if ramen said yes, then it's the truth."
y/n giggled softly and kissed her cat before reaching to turn off her lamp and laying back on her bed. she stared at the ceiling for few seconds until her eyelids felt heavy and she soon drifted off to sleep.

iwaizumi was washing his dirty plate in the sink when he felt someone's presence behind him, he turned around to see his mother looking up at him with a worried expression.

"are you okay, hajime? you seem like you're deep in thoughts."
was it that obvious? he thought to himself. in response, he shook his head and wiped his hand with a napkin before turning around to face his mother.

"nothing's wrong mom, I'm just tired that's all."
he put the napkin back on the table and was about to walk away when she grabbed his hand, making him stop. he turned around to face her with a confused look on his face.

"tired my butt! tell me now or else."
she glared at him and he shivered in response. he can't hide anything from his mother, can he? she was the only one who can read him like an open book.

"fine, it's just.. i met this girl earlier and—"

"OH MY GOLLY— MY SON HAS A GIRLFRIEND!"
iwaizumi's mother bounced like a hyper kid which made his face go red. he tried to stop her but he failed as she kept on jumping up and down.

"IT'S NOT LIKE THAT MOM! CAN YOU PLEASE LISTEN TO ME!"
after what felt like forever of trying to calm her down, she finally did and waited for him to speak up, iwaizumi sighed and looked down, trying to find the right words to say.

"i was on my way home when i almost hit this girl with my car, she was on the ground, crying while it was raining on her. i didn't want to scare her by asking her to get in the car, and at the same time, i couldn't leave her alone like that, so i just went with asking her and she agreed, she told me how her classmates bullied her, they did many terrible things to her and no one was there to help her.. and the worst thing is, she's so fragile and can't defend herself."

iwaizumi took a deep breath as he recalled her words, the way she was drowning in pain as she talked to him shattered his heart into million pieces.

"when i dropped her home, i told her that i will protect her from those jerks. but i really don't know anything about girls, i get so embarrassed and sometimes i end up stuttering. and if crappykawa knew about it, he would make things harder than they already are.."

iwaizumi's mother gazed at her son with a bright smile on her face, she reached to grab his hands together which made him lift up his head and look at her.

"i'm so proud of you hajime, this poor girl has no one to talk to, and she must be going through a lot, at school and probably at home as well. and during this time, she needs someone that will be her shield, but if she can't find anyone, and especially that she doesn't know how to fight, she'll end up losing this war, and don't worry, hajime. you're an amazing fighter. just be who you are, be her hero and save her from the enemies."
she flashed him another smile before leaving the kitchen, iwaizumi stayed there, speechless. he kept replaying every single word that came from his mother's mouth.

be her hero.

"i will definitely protect you, l/n."
