DAYS HAVE PASSED IN A BLINK OF AN EYE, and y/n couldn't be happier. the loneliness in her heart was no longer there after iwaizumi and oikawa came into her life. most of the school still hated her for hanging out with them, and especially oikawa but iwaizumi was always there for her to defend her and have her back. and it became a habit where iwaizumi picks up y/n in the morning and walks her home after school, and as much as she wanted him to hang out with his friends instead of being stuck with her, he would always assure her that he wanted to spend more time with her instead since he always sees the boys.
iwaizumi and y/n's friendship blossomed and the two were grateful for having each other, the bullies from y/n's class, maya and her minions would always try to counter her but iwaizumi would appear from nowhere and threaten the girls.
as much as it hurts y/n that she can't stand up for herself, he'd always find a way to cheer her up by buying her ice cream, her favorite drink from the vending machine or smack oikawa which always makes her laugh.
the female was walking towards the empty classroom after everyone left for lunch. iwaizumi was absent today and she didn't even have his number to contact him and ask if he was okay. luckily she found oikawa this morning and he told her that he caught a cold and the doctor told him that he has to stay home at least for three days.
having lunch alone with oikawa would result in death, that's why she decided to eat her food alone in her classroom.
pulling back the chair and sitting on it, y/n rested her cheek on her palm as she sipped her favorite drink. her eyes slowly watched the birds chirping and flying together in the sky. she smiled once she tasted the sweet liquid in her mouth, but it quickly faded when she heard someone opening her classroom's door. her head turned around slightly and she found a boy.
she quickly got up from her seat and bowed her head respectfully. he lazily did the same before walking up to her and sitting on the chair that was next to hers.
he looks familiar..
"you're iwaizumi's girlfriend?"
his question made her face go as red as a tomato and she quickly waved her hands in front of her face. he just stared at her blankly before nodding his head and resting his arm on the desk.
"i just came here to thank you for defending iwaizumi that day."
her eyes widened and she quickly lifted up her head to look at him. but before she could open her mouth to say something, he spoke first.
"yes, i was there. i watched the whole thing. i really don't care about this stuff but the way you defended him made me somehow.. happy. i don't know if you have noticed but iwaizumi can be insecure sometimes, oikawa's always in the spotlight while he just stands behind him, he just listens to those rude comments without doing anything. you'd be the first girl who stood up for him, so thank you."
he nodded his head slightly before getting up and walking towards the door.
y/n's chest tightened, iwaizumi wasn't the type to show that much emotions but sometimes he can be easy to read. seeing a frown on his face is the last thing she wants to see, living in the shadows of oikawa must've been really hard for him, he must be really troubled with those thoughts. at that moment, y/n realized that iwaizumi needs protection as well.
