The guard at the gate scrutinized me with a curious gaze as rain continued to pour down. His voice cut through the downpour as he asked, "Who are you here to see?"

I took a deep breath, my nerves palpable, and replied, "I'm here to see Lucien and Joseph."

He nodded and spoke into his radio. Moments later, the imposing gates slowly began to open, creaking eerily in the heavy rain. I cautiously drove through, the gravel crunching under my tires.

Parking my car just outside the mansion, I shut off the engine, and for a brief moment, the silence of the storm was deafening. Doubts and fears swirled in my mind, and I felt an overwhelming urge to leave, to retreat from the unknown.

As my trembling hand reached for the ignition, ready to start the car and escape this ominous place, the engine stalled abruptly. Panic washed over me as I tried to restart it, but to no avail.

Desperation clawed at me, and I glanced up towards the mansion's imposing entrance, obscured by the heavy rain and fog. Through the misty veil, I could make out two figures standing at the door.

Lucien and Joseph. Their presence emanated an otherworldly aura, and my heart pounded as I realized that I was now face to face with the enigmatic brothers. The rain and fog obscured their features, adding an eerie and mysterious dimension to their already cryptic presence.

As I stepped out of the car, rain-soaked and wearing a coat that concealed my injury, my nerves were on edge. The butlers, seemingly materializing out of the rain and fog, moved with remarkable efficiency to retrieve my bags from the car.

But it was Joseph, my mate, who immediately captured my attention. Our eyes locked, and in that moment, something shifted between us. His once enigmatic gaze softened, and an unmistakable energy of love and recognition surged through the space between us. It showed in his face, a profound emotion that I couldn't deny.

Despite the rain and fog that shrouded our surroundings, the connection between us was palpable. It was as if an invisible thread had pulled us together, and in that instant, I knew that the purpose of my journey was clear. Love, as impossible as it seemed, was the key to unraveling the mysteries of Oak Alley Plantation and saving Joseph from the consuming darkness.

With the butlers retrieving my bags, I gathered my strength and walked up the steps to the mansion. I passed by them and entered the house, the weight of my destiny heavy on my shoulders. After locking the doors and ensuring my solitude within the mansion, I wasted no time in seeking refuge in the bathroom. The hot water of the shower was a soothing balm to my nerves, washing away the exhaustion and tension that had gripped me since the moment I had arrived at this enigmatic place.

As I emerged from the shower, the steam-filled bathroom seemed to offer a temporary reprieve from the mysteries and dangers of Oak Alley Plantation. I carefully examined my wound, doing my best to patch it up with the limited supplies available. It was far from a perfect job, but it would have to suffice for now.

Dressed in an oversized hoodie and sweatpants, I made my way downstairs. The mansion, once a place of intrigue, now felt like a labyrinth of secrets and uncertainties. To my surprise, I found Joseph waiting there, his presence a stark reminder of the enigmatic brothers and the tangled web of mysteries that surrounded them.

Anger surged within me, and I couldn't contain it any longer. "None of this would have happened if you had just been honest," I began, my voice filled with frustration and disappointment. "Your secrets, your silence—it's put us all in danger."

I could see the regret in Joseph's eyes, but before I could continue, a wave of dizziness swept over me. My vision blurred, and I swayed on unsteady legs. Mid-sentence, I collapsed, unconsciousness claiming me before I could even register the impact of my words.
