'IT'S A YES'

AUTHOR'S POV

The couple sat in silence while looking at each other once in a while. Different thoughts running in their minds.

While one thought of, 'will everything be alright?' and was being unsure, the other one was already determined to make this work beautifully.

"We should go now, chalein?" Akshat broke the silence and Kashish nodded.

He got up first, waiting for her meanwhile she stood up soon after looking at her fingers getting excited and shy for what was to come. A girl who use to say she didn't want to get married and stay with her parents forever, was now happy about a new phase of her life.

Akshat, by the time they reached downstairs, was no more conflicted that much, he knew that Kashish was good, really good. He was sure of the yes he was gonna say. He was neutral about it. He met a really sweet and beautiful girl and that was enough for his tension to subside.

Both of them came down quietly and stood at a good distance from the people sitting in front of them.

As the families noticed them, Kashish who was standing a little behind Akshat looked at her feet getting shy and nervous of the attention, but andar toh she was jumping.

"Dad! It's a yes from my side." Akshat stated and the families got happy with the announcement and looked in the direction of Kashish waiting for her answer.

"It's a yes from my side too mumma." She stated with a tiny smile and sparkling eyes. She was happy. Over the moon happy. All of this was exciting to her.

"That's great! Toh muh meetha karte hain. Aur sagaai ki taarik bhi dekh lete Hain. Kyun Prabhav ji, kya kehte hain?" Yashwant asked her father and Kashish looked expectantly towards Akshat, waiting for him to say something and interrupt them.

He looked like a troubled statue.

She kept on watching the conversation escalate as the options for the engagement date were being discussed.

"Dekhiye yeh aane Wale 2 mahine bade achhe Hain, toh kuch dates hain Jo ham Panditji se poochh kar aaye the, ek agle mahine ki 7 taarik ya dusri iss month ke aakhir mein 31. Now you decide." Yashwant told everything to Prabhav who said yes to his previous question.

"Excuse me! I'm sorry, but kya mai kuch bol sakti hun?" Kashish's voice stopped the conversion while her parents told her to say what she wanted to.

"Mai- mai chahti hun ke aap log agle mahine wali taarik rakh lein please kyunki... kyunki mai pehle Akshat ji ko thoda jaan na chahti hun, uske liye mujhe thoda time chahiye." Kashish completed her part when she saw Akshat not doing anything.

Why wasn't he saying anything, she thought. Wasn't he the one who needed time?

She didn't care but after knowing what he wanted she couldn't not say it.

Akshat's face got turned towards her so swiftly representing the inner shock he was feeling.

Why did she do it, she was so happy about it so why did she say that, he thought.

Soon his gaze was reciprocated when she looked at him with an assuring blink and a tiny smile.

His breathing laboured understanding what she did and why. She did it for him.
