// The idea came to me in my sleep.

Polly's POV

I knew about the blood moon, how it rises and the stages of it. I wasn't their mate, it would be bad news all round. Serenity and Darcie were already in love, and if it was true that I was their mate, the relationship would turn into a gigantic mess.

Especially when I had an ex-girlfriend, who I still deeply care about. It wasn't a toxic one or anything, she just sort of...vanished. It was strange. I knew I wasn't going to see her again, since the world wanted to punish me. And that was how I got to this situation, it felt like a cursed lottery ticket and I won it. Her name was Darcie too, she was beautiful as well with her long chestnut brown hair and she always used to tie it up into a ponytail where I played with it almost every-time we share a moment together.

But, this Darcie...

I couldn't put my finger on it. She had the same hair, same face, but different eyes and different hair style. She had it down.

I took a small deep breath before I stepped into the bar, the atmosphere was full of passion and I didn't feel any of it. I felt totally out of place. I sat down in front of my boss, who was behind the counter and suddenly served me a glass of pink lemonade. "What is this?" I asked her monotone, "Your pink lemonade. Darcie told me that it was your favourite." Rosalie replied, "Not my Darcie." I then quietly said to myself out loud, before I picked up the drink and took a sip. "Which room are they in?" I asked, "I'll take you up there." Rosalie told me, before I stood up again and followed her up.

"Any stupid advice you want to give me?" I asked her, still feeling pretty angry with her as she did kick me out. She chuckled, deciding to leave me.

Without any sort of hesitation, I opened the door and stepped into the room. I rolled my eyes at them, catching them in the middle of their session. I then shielded my side vision with my hand as I walked over to the sofa and sat down, waiting for them to finish.

I heard Darcie giggle, feeling her presence come close to me so I looked up to see her standing in front of me. I didn't know if I wanted to cry or scream. I had a gut feeling that she was my Darcie. I then looked down, but Darcie softly placed her fingers under my chin and lifted my head up again. "Don't cry, butterfly."

She just confirmed it herself. She knew that I loved butterflies and so she gave me that nickname. "I'm not going to." I told her, "Well, good. I hate seeing you cry." she told me back. Her eyes then began to glow, causing me to immediately pick her up bridal style and looked at Serenity, "Open the fucking door." I ordered, seeing her obey for the first time.

"I can teleport us home...it will just be me and you, butterfly..." Darcie then said with a small purr, before I stopped in the middle of the hallway. I closed my eyes as I felt a gust of wind circle around us, and then we were back home. Serenity's home.

I placed her down gently, not sure what my plan was. But there was one thing that I did knew.

This was the wrong night.

"Butterfly...you smell really yummy..."

And she was under the blood moon's control. Shit.

"Is this your first blood moon?" I asked her, "Does it matter?" she asked me back.

"Yes, it does matter." I replied, "It's my second." she said.

For the first time, I was lucky.
