Chapter Four: JEREMIAH'S POV.
I was sitting on the couch playing video games with Con when my mother walked into the living room. "They're here." She said, excitedly.
They are early. I jumped out of my seat almost immediately. "Belly flop time." I said and then smiled the biggest smile I could. I loved Belly flop time. It was one of my favourite things about summer time. Watching Belly try to run away from us and hearing her squeal when we throw her in the pool is amazing.
"Not them. Laurel and the kids won't get her until after 2. Our new neighbours, the Walkers have arrived. Remember Eliza told us the other day that she was officially moving her kids here today?" My mom said.
I don't remember that at all. I remember meeting Eliza but I don't remember the conversation. I was too high that day. Con too. I looked at him and he had a blank expression on his face. I fell back onto the couch and sighed heavily in disappointment. I was looking forward to throwing Belly into the pool after she ditched me last Summer. She kissed me in the pool and told me that she liked me, only to leave me for my brother a few days later. All while I found out that my mother's cancer had come back. That was fucked up.
"Do we have too?" I asked and pouted.
"Oh come on, Jere Bear you love people. Don't be grumpy." My mom said and squeezed my cheeks.
It was true. I love people. I was completely opposite to my brother. Conrad was the grumpy and moody introvert not me. So full of spirit, I jumped off the couch once again. "Okay mum, let's go." I said, walking towards my mum. I threw my arm around her shoulder and gently kissed her cheek.
"That's my boy." She said. She looked over at Conrad and says "Come on, Connie."
"You guys go, I'm going to stay here and chill." Conrad said. Typical Conrad, always so fucking moody. He woke up from the sofa and was headed towards the kitchen.
Stopping him I said, "Come on, dude. Let's just go say hi."
Conrad sighed deeply and that's when I knew I had him. "Fine." He muttered.
We walked outside and onto the front porch when my mom remembered that she had forgotten the muffins. I quickly ran inside to get them. A minute later, we were in the Walker's driveway. And that was when I saw her. She ran straight to the white Audi parked in her driveway and got her bag from the backseat. She was so oblivious to us. She was wearing a denim shorts and a white crop top that she paired with white sneakers. Her hair was brown and it was just past shoulder length. She had curled it and had it halfway up. She was petite in size and she was around Belly's height. She didn't have make up on and that showed us that was naturally pretty.
I looked over at Con, and he was checking her out too. I clenched my fist immediately. What a fucking asshole. I should have just left him at home, I thought. I wasn't going to let him win this one. He has Belly. He must stick to her.
She finally noticed us and turned around. My mother was first to speak. As usual, my mom greeted her with all the love in her heart.
And then, in a shy tone, she spoke "Hello, I'm Olivia. It's nice to meet you." She said. Her voice so soft, so pleasant.
For the rest of the conversation I zoned out. I was mesmerized by her beauty. And then I heard my mother say my name and I knew that was my queue. "Hi, I'm Jeremiah." I said and pulled her into a hug. She smelled nice. Her scent was a mixture of daisy's and cloudberries. It was breath-taking.
I glared at Conrad when he greeted her. He didn't hug her, he just stood there. I smiled slightly as I was relived.
Soon after, we met her brother Noah who seems cool and like somebody who we would hang out with all the time. We learnt that he's the same age as Con and Steven. I glanced at Olivia and she looked like she wasn't here, which made me question where her mind had wondered off too.
I wanted to know more about her. I had to know her and that gave me an idea. "You guys should come to the Start of the summer beach bonfire tonight." I suggested and Noah liked the idea. He asked his sister if she was down but she didn't hear him the first time so he nudged her. The expression on her face when she finally snapped out of her thoughts was the cutest thing ever. It was so cute, it put a smile to my face. Noah asked Olivia if she wanted to come to the bonfire again. That's when I decided to speak. "Come. It will be fun. You'll have us as company and our friend Belly will be there too so you won't be the only girl." I said, hoping that I had convinced her enough.
"Yeah, I'm down." Olivia said and smiled.
"Great." I said and winked at her as discretely as possible. Con must have noticed my wink because he laughed under his breath.
Later that afternoon, Steven and I were chilling in the pool. Con was sitting on the floor with his legs dangling in the water. Belly had gone inside to shower and change after we Belly flopped her into the water and the moms were inside watching television.
"Yoh, Steve. Our new neighbour, Olivia. Super hot." I said, excitedly. Conrad grinned whilst Steven's face lit up.
"Serious bro?" Asked Steven, with widened eyes. I nodded at him and so did Con. "How old is she?" Steven asked.
That's when it hit me. We didn't get her age.
"She looks around Jere's age but her brother Noah is our age." Con said.
"Noah seems cool." I said.
"Sweet. We got a new bro." Steven crowed.
"Jere invited them tonight." Con said and smiled.
"I was just being friendly." I tried to justify myself.
"Yeah, too friendly. Especially with Olivia." Conrad grinned and winked at me. I knew he caught me out.
I squashed water at him instantly.
"Jeremiah Fisher." Steven said, using his grown up voice. "Tell me you did not wink at her." He added.
I blushed, confirming that I had done that and Conrad and Steven both burst out into laughter. "Fuck you both." I said and flipped them off with my middle fingers. Two hands, two fingers, one for each of them. "Whatever, right!" I said and rolled my eyes. "All I'm saying is that if we are playing Truth or Dare tonight, please can one of you assholes dare me to kiss her."
"We got you bro, we got you." Steven said.
