the Hexside Talent Show in progress. The auditorium is filled with students, teachers, and parents. The stage is decorated with banners and lights. The host of the show is PRINCIPAL BUMP, who is wearing a tuxedo and holding a microphone.
BUMP: (enthusiastic) Welcome, everyone, to the Hexside Talent Show! The most exciting event of the year!
The audience cheers and claps.
BUMP: (proud) We have a lot of talented students here at Hexside, and they are ready to show off their skills and impress you all. So, without further ado, let's begin!
He looks at a list of names on a clipboard.
BUMP: (announcing) Our first act is... Boscha and her Abomination Squad!
The audience boos and hisses. BOSCHA and her cronies walk on the stage, wearing matching outfits and sunglasses. They are followed by their abominations, which are large and slimy creatures with tentacles and teeth. BOSCHA holds a microphone and smirks.
BOSCHA: (confident) Hello, Hexside. Are you ready to rock?
The audience groans and rolls their eyes.
BOSCHA: (ignoring) Well, too bad. Because we're going to rock your world.
She snaps her fingers and the music starts. It is a loud and obnoxious rock song with heavy guitar riffs and drums. BOSCHA and her cronies start to sing and dance, while their abominations join them. The lyrics are about how awesome they are and how lame everyone else is.
BOSCHA: (singing) We are the Abomination Squad / We are the best / We are the coolest / We are the hottest / We are the strongest / We are the smartest / We are the Abomination Squad / And you are not
The audience covers their ears and winces. They boo and throw popcorn at them.
BOSCHA: (singing) You are the losers / You are the worst / You are the lamest / You are the coldest / You are the weakest / You are the dumbest / You are the losers / And we are not
She points at LUZ, AMITY, WILLOW, and GUS, who are sitting in the front row. They look annoyed and disgusted.
BOSCHA: (singing) Especially you, Amity / You are a traitor / You are a failure / You are a quitter / You are a liar / You are a sinner / You are a traitor / And I am not
She glares at AMITY, who looks hurt and angry. LUZ holds her hand and comforts her.
LUZ: (whispering) Don't listen to her, Amity. She's just jealous of you.
AMITY: (whispering) Jealous of me? Why would she be jealous of me?
LUZ: (whispering) Because you have something she doesn't. Something she can never have.
AMITY: (whispering) What do you mean?
LUZ: (whispering) Me.
She smiles and kisses AMITY on the cheek. AMITY blushes and smiles back.
AMITY: (whispering) Oh, Luz.
They hug each other and ignore BOSCHA's song.
BOSCHA: (singing) And you, Luz / You are a freak / You are a joke / You are a mistake / You are a fake / You are a fluke / You are a freak / And I am not
She points at LUZ, who sticks out her tongue at her.
LUZ: (whispering) She's so mean.
AMITY: (whispering) She's so pathetic.
They laugh and cuddle with each other.
BOSCHA: (singing) So bow down to us / We are the Abomination Squad / We rule this school / We rule this world / We rule this stage / We rule this show / We rule this song / And you do not
She raises her hand and makes her abomination roar. The abomination spits out slime on the audience, who scream and duck.
BOSCHA: (singing) Thank you, thank you very much!
She drops the microphone and bows. The audience boos louder and throws more popcorn at them.
BUMP: (annoyed) Okay, okay, that's enough. Thank you, Boscha and her Abomination Squad. That was... something.
He claps politely and walks on the stage.
BUMP: (announcing) Let's move on to our next act. Please welcome... Luz Noceda!
The audience cheers louder and claps harder. LUZ stands up and walks on the stage, holding a glyph paper and a pen. She waves at the audience and smiles.
LUZ: (happy) Hi, everyone. I'm Luz Noceda, and I'm a human.
The audience gasps and murmurs.
LUZ: (explaining) That means I'm not from the Boiling Isles. I'm from another world, where magic doesn't exist. But I learned how to do magic here, thanks to my amazing mentor, Eda the Owl Lady.
She points at EDA, who is sitting in the audience with LILITH, KING, and HOOTY. They wave and cheer for her.
LUZ: (grateful) She taught me how to use glyphs, which are symbols that can create different types of magic. Like this.
She draws a light glyph on the paper and throws it in the air. It creates a bright flash of light. The audience oohs and aahs.
LUZ: (impressive) Or this.
She draws a fire glyph on the paper and throws it in the air. It creates a blast of fire. The audience oohs and aahs louder.
LUZ: (amazing) Or this.
She draws an ice glyph on the paper and throws it in the air. It creates a shower of snowflakes. The audience oohs and aahs louder.
LUZ: (entertaining) And that's not all. I can also combine glyphs to create new effects. Like this.
She draws a plant glyph and an earth glyph on the paper and throws it in the air. It creates a giant flower that grows out of the ground. The audience oohs and aahs louder.
LUZ: (funny) Or this.
She draws a fire glyph and an ice glyph on the paper and throws it in the air. It creates a steam cloud that rains down hot water. The audience oohs and aahs louder.
LUZ: (awesome) Or this.
She draws a light glyph and a fire glyph on the paper and throws it in the air. It creates a rainbow that spans across the stage. The audience oohs and aahs louder.
LUZ: (proud) And that's how I do magic as a human. Thank you for watching!
She bows and smiles. The audience cheers louder and claps harder. They give her a standing ovation.
BUMP: (impressed) Wow, wow, wow! That was incredible, Luz! You are truly talented!
He walks on the stage and hugs LUZ.
BUMP: (congratulating) Congratulations, Luz! You just won the Hexside Talent Show!
He hands her a trophy and a medal.
LUZ: (surprised) What? Really?
BUMP: (confirming) Yes, really! You deserve it!
LUZ: (excited) Oh my gosh! Thank you so much!
She hugs him back and holds the trophy and medal.
LUZ: (happy) This is amazing!
She looks at AMITY, who is sitting in the front row. She smiles and waves at her.
LUZ: (loving) This is for you, Amity!
AMITY: (loving) I love you, Luz!
She stands up and runs on the stage. She hugs LUZ and kisses her passionately. LUZ kisses her back and lifts her up. They spin around and laugh.
LUZ: (joyful) I love you too, Amity!
The audience cheers louder and claps harder. They chant their names.
AUDIENCE: Luz! Amity! Luz! Amity!
They look at each other and smile. They kiss again.
