Well, this sucks. Peacefully walking to the site and fell down, again. However, this time I ended up in a part of the forest that did not belong to anyone but an angry closed group of people who don't like outsiders. So now I'm sitting tied to a totem pole next to a roaring fire that is making me sweat. The sweat is making me sticky in some areas and burning in others due to the cuts, bruising, and possibly broken something or other from my fall. Funny enough my site that I'm leading is most likely frantically looking for me since I'm the lead archeologist of ancient pottery and dishes. This helps identify the level of progress a civilization has gone as well as the type of diet they had. Dishes can hold many meanings, such as wealth, how large the family is, and celebratory habits of people. Huffing, I looked around as the people who captured me ignored my presence if they were going to capture me and then ignore me then why didn't they do that from the start! I decided that if I was going to be ignored and in pain might as well get some sleep.
T'Challa P.O.V.
I was going through my morning like normal when Shuri came running into my office and started quickly rambling about something. Confusedly tilted my head. "Shuri, what are you saying?"
"My friend, she hasn't shown up to the archeology site all day. I even got there later because she is clumsy and gets lost sometimes! I'm worried, brother. Can you do something?" Shuri asked as the door to my office got opened again without knocking. I looked at the interruption to see a warrior.
"My Lord, there is a problem. The lead archeologist has gone missing! We have reports that the Chicara (fake name!) are causing a ruckus along our river. What should we do, My Lord?" I looked at the warrior and then at Shuri, having the same thoughts. The archeologist must have been taken by the Chicara. I inhaled them and exhaled I'm getting my nerves in order. Their Chief never listens to me, and now I have to interfere because the archeologist is on a diplomatic visa with us and other countries. She is only taking the research and leaving everything for the countries to help write the history of the countries. I stood from my seat and walked to changing room to get into my suit while talking to Shuri and the warrior that reported to me.
(Y/n)'s P.O.V.
I woke up sometime later and started to tap my toes together while humming some catchy songs I listened to on my Walkman. I know it is old, but it doesn't have a lot of maintenance and doesn't require satellite service, and the battery on my phone lasts longer if I play music off of something else. I love music as much as my work. I looked at the sky to count clouds and spot shapes. I guess I have been doing this for a while since I noticed the sun was setting, and if my suspicion is correct, they will kill me shortly. Humming to myself, I looked around to see if I could get out of the rope keeping me to the pole. Not like I don't want to see how this ends. I am just done with this whole hostage thing. I looked around and noticed that they never took my Swiss army knife away from me as it was poking me as I slowly shuffled around. I got it to the edge of my pocket when I noticed that there were people started to come towards me. They spoke loud as they approached in their native tongue they thought I didn't understand since I was of another race than them. I pretended to be asleep as I snooped on their conversation.
"Chief, can we kill her now?"
"No, we must wait until the first stars shine to sacrifice her to the gods. Only then will we be whole with the sacred earth that we inhabit." The older voice said. I am assuming that he was the Chief since that is what the younger voice called him. The way I was playing dead really hurt my side as the ropes were really digging into the wound. They talked about some mumbo-jumbo ritual that I was the sacrifice for and I was not waiting to be my death certificate or the reaper to be knocking on my door due to my clumsy self getting into these types of situations. Slowly peeking my eyes open and checking to make sure that the coast is clear. I got the knife and started to sawed away at the restraints that held me to the totem pole. The ropes snapped and my hands were still bound together but now I wasn't stuck in one place. I slowly made my way around shuffling along as quietly as I could to get out of the settlement. I would duck behind tents and objects as people were getting closer and moved when they were gone enough that I couldn't hear their voices.
