Mason and Y/N had always had a tumultuous relationship. They seemed to clash at every turn, their differences and disagreements driving a wedge between them. It was a well-known fact among their friends Miguel and Maddie that Mason and Y/N couldn't stand each other.

One weekend, Miguel and Maddie invited Mason and Y/N to their place for a movie night, with the main feature being a horror film. Mason and Y/N reluctantly agreed, knowing that it was one of the rare occasions when they would see their friends.

As the movie began, the tension in the room was palpable. Mason and Y/N had reluctantly taken seats next to each other, both determined to endure the horror flick in silence. However, as the suspenseful scenes played out on the screen, Y/N couldn't help but feel a bit jittery, and Mason, despite his tough facade, found himself gripping the armrest of his chair.

As the horror intensified, Y/N's fear grew, and she couldn't bear to look at the screen any longer. She buried her face in her hands, peeking out only when the terrifying moments had passed. Unintentionally, she scooted closer to Mason for comfort.

Mason, feeling her proximity, glanced at Y/N and saw her wide-eyed and trembling. Surprisingly, instead of making a snide remark or pushing her away, he tentatively wrapped an arm around her shoulder, offering her reassurance.

Y/N, caught off guard by Mason's unexpected gesture, didn't protest. In fact, she found herself leaning into his comforting embrace as the movie continued. The fear began to subside, replaced by a feeling of warmth and security that she hadn't expected.

As the movie reached its climax, both Mason and Y/N felt a sense of relief wash over them. They had survived the horror film, not because they enjoyed it, but because they had found solace in each other's company.

When the credits rolled, Y/N realized that she had fallen asleep during the movie, her head resting on Mason's shoulder. She stirred and slowly woke up, meeting Mason's eyes as she lifted her head.

Their gazes locked, and something shifted between them. It was as if the walls that had separated them for so long had crumbled in that moment of vulnerability. Mason spoke first, his voice surprisingly soft. "Y/N, I never thought I'd say this, but I'm glad you were here with me tonight."

Y/N couldn't help but smile, feeling the same way. "Mason, me too. Maybe we've been wrong about each other all this time."

Their friends, Miguel and Maddie, exchanged surprised glances. They had witnessed the unexpected change in Mason and Y/N's relationship and were eager to see where it would lead.

As Mason and Y/N looked at each other, they both realised that beneath their differences and disagreements, there was a connection they couldn't ignore. With newfound honesty, they confessed their feelings, admitting that maybe, just maybe, they didn't hate each other after all. In fact, they might have been falling in love all along.
