I wake up on Friday morning to a text from Reid that way was out of character and honestly, took me off guard. Reid was always a little bit inappropriate and sometimes took things a little far, but honestly, I just nailed that down to hockey. Since meeting the Crestwood team, however, I was beginning to realise that not all hockey players were like that. My mind drifted to Jack, and I immediately had to shake my head to rid my mind of thoughts of the brunet boy.
I glanced at my phone, squinting as I read the text first thing in the morning.
From: Reid <3
Hey babyFew of us will be down near Crapwood after school if you wanna hang?
Miss your sexy little body skating around in those tight ass pants
I tried my very best not to cringe, and subconsciously looked down at my bare legs. I knew it was normal for a boyfriend to look at his girlfriends body, but we had only been together a few months when I moved to Crestwood, and before that had never had a boyfriend in my life. Considering we had barely spoken in over a month, and hadn't seen each other since the night Reid left me at the rink and I hitched a ride home with Jack, it felt particularly strange to have him compliment me in that way.
The rest of the day went by in a strange manner, just as the text I had received in the morning had been.
I spent the first part of my day alone, knowing not too many people in my first classes of the day except for Jack, who was unfortunately, in my homeroom. And I refuse to sit with him. He sat with a blonde girl I recognised as Gabriella, one of the cheerleaders on the Crestwood team who allegedly loved Ice Hockey, but also thought they played with a ball. So, yeah, I didn't want to be anywhere near that. I'd been listening to their conversation by accident, not really knowing what I was doing, but I couldn't help it, they were two tables from me and Gabriella was being a little too loud.
"So when's the next game?" Gabriella asked Jack, batting her thick eyelashes as the boy as she inched closer and closer to him.
Jack barely looked up from my phone. "Tomorrow night."
Gabriella giggled, and I, internally barfed. What in the world was I witnessing? I almost felt bad for the girl, throwing herself at a boy who so obviously wasn't interested. "You don't mind if I come, right?"
Jack looked up from his device, sending her a look that suggested she had two heads, but he didn't say much, only shrugged and went back to his phone.
The blonde girl, however, took this as a cue, apparently, and began giggling wildly. I was honestly embarrassed for her.
I kept to myself for the remainder of homeroom, staring out the window, and not even realising the bell had rung until a ridiculously tall brunet boy was suddenly towering over my desk. I looked up at him, feigning boredom, and not wanting him to suspect that I had any sort of strange pent up attraction for the boy. Because, I didn't.
