The smell of sweet pine and ash was suddenly all around her, the crackling of a fire could be heard in the distance as well as the sound of feet running, the crunching of the ground beneath them, screams dulling the sound of a village on fire. A Woman that seemed no older than twenty years of age woke in the center of a burning village, her hair bloodied and matted mixed with the earth; her clothes stained from the ash that rained down from the sky.   Her vision was slowly becoming clear as the black silhouettes around her turned into color.

"what is going on. Where am I?" she whispered out, not being able to recall the events leading up to where she lay. Wincing in pain she raised her hand to her head, that was when she realized she had a fresh gash leaking down her cheek. "Did i fall? what happened.." she thought to herself out loud.  Slowly rising up on her feet, Her legs felt like led with each step she took in the burning town she assumed she must have called home.  The smoke causing her throat to burn, her eyes tearing up causing Them to burn bright like ambers in the flames surrounding the village and townspeople.  The screams were now dying down as the fire finally subsided.  " Hello?" she whispered out into dimly lite streets, hoping someone would recognize her or at least let her know what had just transpired.  No one would be left to help her, they all seemed be eaten by the flames that had once encased the village.

Minutes and then hours passed as the woman wondered through out the cobble stone streets, ambers and ash coated the streets like snow would in winter.  As exhaustion finally took its tole on the woman, she finally sat beneath a large pine tree that sat at the edge of the village.  It had seemed the fire spared this part of the forest as the trees beyond where she lay were untouched.

The adrenaline that once sheltered her from the cold was starting to subside and she could start to feel the prickling of the cold against her pale frail skin.  Her lips were dry from thirst as she started to cough, burst of air could be seen in the form of small clouds. As the temperature started to drop, she could feel herself losing consciousness.  her head throbbing as it needed stitches from her wound against her head.  As she started allowing herself to drift, the sound of a twig snapping caused her eyes to open.  "Who's Out there!" she spoke out in a raspy voice.   A dark silhouette of a man could be seen making his way closer to her.  " I wouldn't close my eyes if i were you.. not with a wound that deep on your pretty head." He spoke out into the darkness, it almost sounded like he was teasing her, playing with her even.  Her eyes felt heavy as the images around her started to blur.  " who are you?" she whispered back to the man, sharp teeth could be seen from the shadows that hid his face as he smirked back at the young woman before him.  " The question is who are you? such a beauty in the state before me should be held before the gods himself." He spoke as he knelt down to her eye level.  The woman let out a weak chuckle as she locked her eyes on the stranger.  " I do not know sir. Nor do I know of the beauty you speak of." She spoke out weakly, finally her body feeling the full brunt of the events that shortly took place.  "I got you darling.." Was all she could hear as her eyes drifted and her body became limp on the cold ground.  The man smirked as he lifted the small woman from the earth and carried her back to the camp his companions were waiting for him in the forest that smelt of pine and ashes.
