Sleep was sweet. Oblivion was even better.

Dreamless. Peaceful. Silent.

Kyla wanted to live in the oblivion. But upon her floating self, she felt the pressure of hands, though she couldn't place the touch.

"Wake up," an echo of a voice beckoned her.

"She's barely breathing," another voice said.

"She's fine!" The echoed voice cried. It was familiar. Nothing like the evil voice that snaked into her mind. Something about it called to her, pulled her to the surface.

She only wanted to sink deeper.

"Her pulse is fast."

"Come on." The pressure on her body was harder.

No, no, no.

She heard a groan. Was it her? White light filled the dark oblivion as the surface became clearer.

"Wake up," the voice begged.

The first thing she saw was a sky full of blue.

Everything else was a blur. Her body numb.

"Hey," that sweet, familiar voice said softly. He cupped her cheek, bringing her attention to her face. Her skin. The warmth of his fingertips. "Can you hear me?"

She could. But she couldn't answer. She was terrified to wake. The voice was sure to return.

But for the moment, she was enraptured by the man who was slowly coming into view.

His head turned, but she couldn't see anyone else. It looked like he was listening to someone's words.

A glow of light surrounded him. He looked like an angel.

"No," he answered. "She's not bleeding. She doesn't look hurt."

"Then what the hell happened?"

Kyla slowly came to, groaning at the slightest movements.

Bright blue eyes were wide on her, fear stricken. He looked like he'd seen a ghost.

His face was so familiar, like the one she'd seen in her dreams. Fear, worry and. concern plagued the man.

She mumbled a word. Could it have been a name?

She must have been dreaming. The man that stood above her was a younger Edmund.

"Kyla, please," the voice called again. It wasn't rough, like she expected. It was like a melody.

No. Not Edmund, but-

"Eugene?" She breathed.

His shoulders collapsed at the sound of her voice.

She realized then that he had one hand under her neck, cradling her head. His hand was like a pillow.

"Are you alright, my love?" Rider asked in a gentle voice. She could hear it trembling.

"He's coming for me," she croaked.

"It's okay," he breathed, pulling her up and into him. "I've got you, it's okay."

She breathed him in, letting his scent calm her. She placed her hand on his chest, trying to feel his heartbeat through his skin.

"Let's get her back to the hut," Rider said to her family.

Rider's arm was tight around Kyla, basically dragging her back to the hut. She was protected. Safe in the hands of her True Love.
