EDENADAM'S POEM
There was something heavy on Eve's shoulders for months now. The pulsing pain inside of her head six months ago stuck with her. She wasn't sure what had happened and why it happened, but it did. The event never occurred again but she felt a profound sense of nothingness. As if she was constantly hungry and no matter how much she ate, that hunger wouldn't cease. That's exactly how Eve felt. And it bothered her more than anything.
After leaving her homeworld, Eve traveled across the galaxy—and made friends along the way. She saved many individuals and fought against the biggest threat across the Galaxy and Multiverse. For the first time, she got to explore Earth and saw what the people truly were like. Everything Eve dreamed of, she got to do. But now, as she sat on her bed crossed leg, she wasn't sure what she needed or wanted.
Eve felt lost. She thought about Ayesha and Celestia often. She missed her friend, Cassiopeia, and wondered if the woman got to live out her own dreams. Eve even missed the planets of Sovereign. However, she knew she could never go back. The thought of Ayesha placing the bounty on Eve's head never left, but she still missed the hugs from who she thought was her mother. She missed everything.
Rotating the orb she had found in Celestia's bag years ago, Eve tilts her head. It had activated once and again during Eve's fit. But since then, it sat in silence. The voice that called out to her never spoke again and she questioned if she had broke it. Celestia would know what to do with it, but of course, Celestia wasn't here. Maybe Eve wanted to learn of its mystery because she longed to understand it and find out if she could uncover information about Sovereign. But nothing happened. No poking or tapping or speaking to it worked.
Eve gave out a sigh, lowering the orb as she threw her head back with frustration.
A knock on her metal door caused Eve to snap her head in the direction and she quickly jumped to her feet. In seconds, she opened the door to see Rocket looking back at her with a hint of sadness in his eyes.
"Are you okay?" Eve knitted her brows with concern. She and Rocket had formed a bond over the years. In fact, she saw him like a father and he had treated her more like a father than the High Evolutionary had ever done. They were quite good together, along with Groot. Sure the living plant wasn't the smartest, but the trio were like a family. So, seeing Rocket look just as lost made her worry.
"Can we talk?" Rocket questioned.
Looking out towards the middle of the small village of Nowhere, Eve nods her head, stepping to the side so Rocket could come in.
"What's wrong?"
Rocket managed to wiggle his way onto the edge of her bed and Eve sat next to him with the orb wedged in between her hands.
