TRUST DOESNT COME EASY
[ chapter four—lahey ]

Emiline jerked her jaw to the side as Allison had been stolen away by Jackson.. again. The bell rung out around them, flicking a switch in the students that filled the hallways.

A swarm of students began to swallow the girl whole as students rushed to get to their next class. Emiline glanced back at the crowd as she reached her class, clenching her jaw as she turned back to the class.

"Ah, Emiline, just in time. You're getting a new lab partner." Emiline rolled her shoulders back slightly as she turned to Harris. "But—"

Harris shrugged her off as he placed something down on his desk. "No buts, Lahey's your new patterns."

Emiline swallowed hard, mumbling an sorry as someone nudged past her. "No— any one but her." Isaac spoke up from his lab bench.

Harris lifted his head glaring at the boy till he returned to his seat. "Take a seat, Flèche."

The girl found her cousin seated with Lydia mouthing an apology to her. The girl hesitantly took a seat, searching for a way for her to get out of this.

Scott and Stiles sat on the opposite side of the bench while, Allison and Lydia sat on the bench in-front of them. Emiline buried her head in her hands as Harris began to speak, Scott's voice towering over him.

Emiline lifted her head as he called to her cousin, catching her attention. "Hey, class is beginning." She spoke in a whisper, nodding her head slightly.

Scott stammered for a second, receiving a nudge from his friend he began to speak. "I- I know. I'll shut up. I just... I have some stuff on my phone that I wanted to send you."

Stiles nodded his head, looking down at the lab bench. "Thought you might like it." Emiline clenched her jaw as she felt Isaacs cold gaze set on her.

Inhaling sharply as met his gaze, pure hatred toward the girl coursed through his veins and over what? A bump in the hallway?

"What did I do to you?" She mumbled, her voice almost faulting to carry past her lips. The boy scoffed lowly as he turned away from her.

A heavy sigh slipped past her lips as she turned to Stiles who could only shrug as her gaze had turned to ice. "Don't look at me." He stammered, the girl rolled her eyes.

Allison's screen lit up, her hand hesitant in wrapping around it as she read his name across the screen. Emiline let out a pained sigh as she'd gotten a glimpse of the "stuff" Scott had sent her cousin.

Photos of them when they were together. Emiline went to lean forward to express how much of an idiot he was but Allison had already left her seat and rushed for the door.

Stiles raised his hands in defeat as Scott rushed out after her. Her gaze shifted to the boy beside her shaking her head slightly as he glared back at her.

Emiline glanced around the lunch room with a smile plastered on her lips from a genuinely funny joke Phoebe had told to them.

Her smile faded quickly as her gaze fell on Isaac, glaring at her from his lunch table. The girl rolled her shoulders back, lowering her head against her hand.
