When Gojo jolted awake, the memories of the airport had long been erased from his mind. What was left in its place was a splitting migraine and enough pain that could last a normal person a lifetime. But Gojo wasn't normal. Or alive.
He was supposed to be dead.
Gojo clearly remembered his defeat after Sukuna had tore through his infinity like it was paper, with Mahoraga now fully adapted to his cursed technique. The slash had been quick, an attack so fast that even he couldn't see it coming. It left his body completely severed in half, and his once powerful Six-Eyes staring into nothingness, unblinking, unseeing. After that, he was pronounced dead from that point onwards. So how did Gojo end up here?
A low guttural growl suddenly erupted from the pitch darkness in front of him. Gojo looked up, only to be met with slit pupils drowning in an uncanny void of red.
"I see that you've woken up, Six-Eyes." Sukuna commented, seated on his throne built up purely on sheep skulls and bones.
Gojo frowned. "What am I doing here?"
He craned his neck to take in his surroundings as Sukuna chuckled. As his eyes adjusted to the darkness, it became evidently clear that this was the curse's domain. Gojo tried to stand up, only to fail miserably as he was met with a blinding pain blooming in his abdomen. He cursed, then fell back down on one knee. Gingerly, Gojo slowly traced the wound with his fingers. To his surprise, his touch was met with bandaging that could be evenly matched with Shoko's work. The sorcerer looks up in confusion as he tries to search for an answer in the other's expression.
"What, was Uraume's skills not enough for you?" Sukuna mused.
The humorous comment was ignored, and once again, the two fell silent.
"Answer my question Sukuna."
With an annoyed sigh, Sukuna once again broke the strained serenity between them.
"Let's just say, well, I've got big plans for you, sorcerer." He drawled, a lazy smirk stretching his features.
The words sent chills to Gojo's spine. Narrowing his eyes, he finally spoke again. "I just can't seem to catch a break can I?"
The question came out unsteadier than Gojo anticipated. If Sukuna noticed, he definitely didn't show it.
"Don't flatter yourself Six-Eyes." Before Gojo could even utter another word, Sukuna was in front of him, red eyes boring into his skull. A clawed finger reached over to his face, but was stopped by infinity. Gojo let out a shaky laugh The curse, however, looked unamused.
"Did you forget who I am?" Gojo goaded, challenging Sukuna.
As if he was making a point, Sukuna pressed down until a single crack echoed faintly around the domain, replaced by a faint buzzing.
Infinity was now broken.
Gojo's eyes widened slightly at the sudden act, but Sukuna seemed to be uninterested in taking it any further. Putting both hands up, the same eerie grin appeared on the curse's face once more.
"Judging from your expression, you seem quite surprised, sorcerer." When Gojo remained silent, Sukuna laughed again. "Don't overestimate yourself. Reversed healing technique takes a toll on it's users, especially the ones that came back from the dead."
Finally, Gojo gave in to the dull aching that had resided in his body. Sitting back down in the shallow waters, he glanced up with a curious look as the curse walked away.
"So you're just gonna stay here and babysit me?"
Sukuna came to a halt, and for the first time, tension rose between them. "You won't like my answer, Six-Eyes."
Within a millisecond, Gojo appeared in front of him. "Kinda wish you didn't say that Sukuna. Now I gotta-"
The curse stops him mid sentence with a powerful kick, one that Gojo narrowly manages to stop. He grunts at the effort, but Sukuna doesn't budge. Instead, Sukuna somersaulted backwards while sending a blast of cursed energy towards Gojo. The sorcerer retaliated with a black flash that barely managed to catch Sukuna in the shoulder, earning an agitated 'tsk' from the curse as he jumped up to avoid any oncoming attacks.
"Enough of this now, sorcerer. You're in no condition to match me, let alone fight."
Sukuna looked down at Gojo whilst perched on the spine that runs across the top of his domain. The sorcerer was now heaving, with every breath of air harder to obtain than the next. He tried to say something, anything, but the only thing that came out was a few drops of blood. Gojo knew he was in no condition to go up against Sukuna, but he wasn't about to go down without a struggle.
However, the fight in him had already dissipated, and Sukuna was well aware of that. The curse idly watched as Gojo took one final step before his leg gave out beneath him. Blood began to seep through the fresh bandage while new wounds also surfaced from the recent scuffle.
Gojo didn't even have the energy to watch Sukuna come close, and soon enough that was the last problem on his mind. Although the sorcerer was grateful for the cursed energy from Sukuna flowing through his body, the process was excruciatingly painful. He could feel every damaged cell repairing, bones rearranging and flesh stitching itself back up.
Even with all of Gojo's tolerance for pain, he was in no condition to try and stifle the small grunts that managed to escape his lips. As his organs restore themselves into their previous condition, he could barely manage to make out Sukuna's voice on top of all the pain and the numbness settling in his mind. The curse's face was blurred by the black dots that swarmed Gojo's vision, but one thing remained clear.
Looking dead into the sorcerer's eyes, Sukuna mouthed two words.
"They're next."
