must be your lucky day

after i finished texting dominik, i turned my phone off and looked up at ruben and jack who were already looking at me. i shot the both confused looks, then jack nudged ruben, making him sigh and walk over to me.

"athena, we need to talk" he sat down next to me and looked me directly in the eyes. "fine talk" i sighed and turned my full body so i could face him. "i-" he started before the door flew open once again.

"sorry we're late, we had to get ronnie from nursery first" phil walked in hand in hand with a pregnant rebecca and ronnie leading the way for them. me and rebecca's baby bumps were around the same size so i assume we both got pregnant in mykonos.

i watched the happy family as ronnie ran over to jack and handed him the bouquet of roses that he was carrying. "uncle jack, will you be okay?" ronnie asked sincerely as he saw the state of jack. "of course it doesn't even hurt! they call me super jack for a reason" he smirked.

"not even here?" ronnie lightly pressed on jacks busted lip. "okay maybe just a little bit" he winced immediately moving his head away making ronnie giggle. "uncle jack?" ronnie said innocently with a small pout on his face. "when do you think aunty attie is coming back? she promised she would come see me, but she never came back.. my daddy told me she's your baby sister" he babbled innocently with a sad expression on his face.

"today must be your lucky day ron ron" jack smiled widely at him. "why?" ronnie asked confused. "look" jack turned ronnie around and pointed straight at me. ronnies face instantly lit up, as he ran towards me.

"attie!!!! i missed you" ronnie jumped into my arms and pulled me in for a tight hug. "i missed you too ronnie" i said giving him a kiss on the forehead. rebecca and phil were hesitant on what to do, so i told them it's all okay.

they both gave me side hugs then went over to jack. i was playing with ronnie while he was on my lap as ruben just watched us. ronnie got a bit tired, so i got my phone out for him to watch paw patrols on. he leaned back with his back on my stomach and his head on my chest.

"wow, you have the same big tummy like my mummy" he exclaimed as soon as his back touched my stomach. i looked around to see if anyone heard what he said, but luckily no one did. im not sure if ruben did or not because he was frozen in place.

"my daddy told me that he gave mummy a big tummy because he wants likes to give her a big tummy" ronnie ranted, catching everyone's attention. jack, phil and ruben snickering while rebecca nudged phil. "can i see your big tummy?" ronnie slid off my lap, and before i could stop him, he lifted my hoodie up revealing my baby bump to everyone in the room.

i felt tears well up in my eyes as i looked around to shocked faces. i looked at ruben, he was the most shocked out of everyone. his jaw was dropped, eyes widened, and he looked like he wanted to say something but nothing was coming out of his mouth. i watched him swallow deeply before making eye contact with me. i couldn't take the piercing silence anymore so i stood up to leave the room.

"i need some air" i muttered before basically running out the door and slamming it. i sat down on one of the plastic chairs that were against the wall, and took deep breaths because i didn't want to break down especially since ronnie was there.

i was finally able to calm myself down, when i heard the door to jacks room shut, meaning someone has just left the room. i looked up and saw ruben. he had different emotions etched in his face, from exhaustion to regret to anger. his stance wasn't his usual strong and confident stance, but a slightly vunerable.

our eyes met for just a millisecond, making me look away instantly. i felt his body warmth so i assume he came and sat next to me. it was all quiet, none of us said a word. i was about to leave when i felt him grab my hand.

"athena, let's talk" his voice sounded rough. you could hear the anger in his voice without even looking at him. i slowly looked up at his somewhat angry face. "is it mine?" he asked softer than before. "what the fuck do you think?!" i rolled my eyes at him.

"i know you're angry, but you have to believe me, i actually liked you. i didn't mean to hurt you" he grabbed both my hands holding them tightly. "then why did you huh?" i tried pulling my hands away from his but he held them tight. "jack told me to.." he mumbled.

"jack would never! no matter how angry he is, he would never let me get hurt intentionally" i pulled my hands away and crossed them, shocked that he would lie about his best friend and my brother. "i'm not lying, you should ask him after, you'll see." he lifted my chin up so i could look into his eyes.

"why do you look angry?" i muttered with my arms still crossed as i avoided eye contact. "it's not my fault i got pregnant but i just couldn't not keep the baby" i looked down, now gently rubbing my stomach. "i'm not angry because you kept in, im angry you didn't tell me." he raised his voice slightly.

"i mean can you blame me!" i raised my voice slightly higher than his. was he seriously just going to act as if he did nothing to me. what a prick.

"athena you have to trust me. ask jack." he became quieter, wanting to keep the conversation calm. he grabbed my hands again and intertwined our fingers. i looked up into his big brown eyes and saw he was being genuine. i got lost in his eyes for a second and i realised he was telling the truth.

"lets start over, please" he pleaded, raising his eyebrow for my opinion. "i don't know..." i scratched the back of my head awkwardly. "please athena, i want to be there for you, for my baby" he begged making sure to put emphasis on the word 'my'.

"you want the baby?" i asked him confused. "of course! i've always wanted a child." he said excitedly. "so what do you think?" he smiled at me, hoping i would agree this time.

"but how will i know you won't cheat on me and stuff" i asked biting my lip, not wanting to say the wrong thing to anger him. "i'll try my best to stop all that just for you, love" he convinced me. i sighed "fine i-" i started before my phone started ringing. i saw that dominik was calling me, so i looked at the time, it was already 8pm.

"sorry i have to take this" i told ruben apologetically as i picked up the phone.

"athena it's getting late, are you sure you're good?" dominik asked in a worried tone.

"yes i'm just doing a bit of catching up" i reassured him. "i might stay at a hotel, i don't think i'll survive on the road at this time." i chuckled a bit.

"alright just take care of yourself, don't do anything stupid" he pretended to scold me.

"you're so annoying!" i laughed

"i love you, byeee" he said as i heard him turning on his ps5.

"love youu" i said before ending the call.

"you didn't tell me you had a boyfriend" ruben mumbled as soon as the call ended. "him? my boyfriend?" i started laughing. "we're best friends, we're just really close." i told ruben his expression softening. "so..?" he asked me awkwardly. "you're lucky i never stopped liking you" i giggled.

"so it's a yes?" his eyes widening. i just nodded at him. he quickly grabbed my face and was about to kiss me but i was able to move my head fast enough for him to get my cheek instead. he pulled away, and gave shot me a confused look.

"you're moving too fast" i shook my head at him. "but i miss your lips" he pouted slightly. i thought for a bit, then came up with an idea. "then i'll give you a kiss on the cheek" i said leaning in.

before i could touch his cheek, he swiftly turned around and grabbed my head then kissed me on the lips. i pulled away quickly, and saw that smug little smirk on his face.
