“Save it,” the younger whimpered, finally finding the courage to leave, “you’re really not human, if you treat people like that.”

---

It was truly a messed up situation.

Jungkook’s mom was still in the hospital.

He came back to his room, heart threatening to jump out of his heart like a freight train, scared out of his mind that Taehyung would just never forgive him, or perhaps fire him from his job, and he really needed the money- his mother’s condition was only getting worse. And an eighteen year old like him could only afford so much.

He texted his aunt about the situation, nervously biting his lips. His aunt couldn’t provide much financial support, but she had connections with a few people.

His aunt replied back, giving the details of a man who was looking for a husband- now, marriage had never been a thing on Jungkook’s mind, but this arranged marriage would work to keep his mom safe, for the man knew about their situation and had offered his assistance.

Jungkook eventually decided that this might be the push he needed, to get over Taehyung.

Jungkook realised that his arranged date, Kim Seokjin, wasn’t nearly as old as he’d thought. He was in his early-forties, and yet looked ridiculously good.

Seokjin also treated the waiters well- which Jungkook appreciated, for many of his “arranged” dates treated the service staff quite badly- just because they were rich. At least Seokjin seemed like a decent human being.

He also had a good sense of humour, making puns all throughout dessert and the main course. He did not seem to much care about Jungkook’s lack of table manners or upper class behaviour, so Jungkook felt much more at ease with himself- laughing throughout their date at the elder’s dad jokes.

Many people tended to be shallow, prideful, and liked to mention their assets a little too much, mistakenly thinking it would impress the younger or simply for the sake of being a gloat, which admittedly turned Jungkook off. Seokjin seemed to be anything but.

Midway through their lunch, Seokjin put his warm hand over Jungkook’s, and Jungkook found that he did not mind the touch, at all.

Things were getting good, at least- until his boss spotted them at the middle of his dinner meeting with an important executive.

At first Taehyung hadn’t even believed it, thought he was seeing things because he missed the younger so much- and gently carried on with his meeting.

But then, after a few repeated glances- he clenched his jaw, for that was surely Jungkook, having lunch with another man.
