Insatiable Insanity

Guns. The first thing Aurora hears in her dreams, her surroundings. It was from afar until she's yanked out of Yirelka's crib. She screamed and thrashed in the man's arms. It's Carter. He smiled menacingly at her. She kicks him, slaps him but he's too strong for her.

" Let me go, please!"

She cried. But he doesn't instead he starts crying. One that woke Yirelka up. She began to cry loudly.

" They killed him," he chanted the words over and over again.

"  Reynolds, they slit his throat," his voice was wavy, shaky and frightened.

Aurora froze. Who?, How?, What happened?

" You stupid love birds, came in. They're downstairs, making their way up here." He began laughing repeatedly. Hope and fear filled Aurora. She was finding it hard to come to terms with what was happening.

" Jos and Lu," she whispered, tears streaming down her face. They'd be happy, right?. Yirelka will finally have her father's.

" Don't smile you bitch!' he yanked her hair pulling so much Aurora lost most of her hair.

" You're hurting me Carter. Just stop. Just end it. It's over, they won't stop until you are dead, just give up!" She cried painfully.

He choked her, pressing so hard Aurora struggled to pry his hands off. His blood shot eyes glaring into her dull ones. She had lost that light. The happiness. Nothing existed in them. Just hollow, empty, dull.

" Fuck!" He stopped before laughing.

" They want you right?, They'll have you."

" Stop!, Carter," she screeched as he pulled her out of the room by the hair. Her body kissing the floors as he pulled her towards her doom.

Aurora had been there. She knew. It was hidden in the walls of the house. It shut her up each time.

" Carter!, Help, Jos!, Lu!" She screamed. But it was of no use. She tried to stop him by digging her fingers into the floor but that made things worse. Her nails broke, her fingers turning crimson as he dragged her.

The throbbing in her head was worse. It felt like her scalp was being skinned off her skull.

" Perfect!" He tossed her body into the fog filled room. The brown boxes scattered around. The cold room.

Her frail body moved to escape but he kicked her in the stomach sending her across the frozen floors towards the wall. She clutched her stomach, pain was an understatement.

Her breath came out frozen.

" Someone help me," she called dryly.

Carter loomed over her.

" Do you know how painful it is to die in the cold?, Everything freezing inside you, every warmth leaving your body, until you're blue and lifeless?". He whispered.

Aurora couldn't move. Yirelka. What will he do to her?. Maybe Jos and Lu will find her but what if they don't?

She hadn't eaten yet. She hadn't fed her yet. She'd die of starvation.

She needed to fight.

Aurora found the strength to kick him in the balls. Carter groaned, stepping away from her.

But he was quick to punch her across the face.

Not once, not twice, not thrice but enough to immobilize her.

Aurora coughed blood, her vision turned blurry from tears and blood trickling down her face.

" S-stop," she coughed, crawling towards the door.
