Chapter 9
Nerve Gas HouseFor the rest of the day you had just been making sure everywhere is clean and organised, putting away clothes you had lying around, making your bed and more. The place was spotless. The final thing you did was clear out your alcohol cupboard. It has been 3 days since your incident, 4 days since your last drink, and to be honest, you didn't feel the need to drink. Or at least not at the moment.
John's test must've worked if I'm throwing out these.
You stood at the sink, pouring each bottle down the drain. As you poured the last bottle, your phone rang in your pocket. It was Mark, you smiled and answered.
"Hello?"
"Hi, [Y/N]. I'm finished now."
"Bit late?"
"No not really. I'm a detective. I can finish really early or really late. I'm on my way to your apartment."
"Miss me already?" Mark chuckled and the sound of his car starting could be heard through the phone.
"No, don't flatter yourself."
"Don't sound so convincing."
"Maybe your right, but I also need to pick you up."
"What for?" You lean against your counter.
Is he taking me out?
"John needs us, we won't be long, just need to go and get his subjects for this gas house place. He did say he needs you for afterwards too but that won't be for a couple of hours."
Dammit.
"Oh okay then, he did say yesterday but I completely forgot."
"Yeah so I'm on my way now, get ready, wear something more comfortable then what you wore yesterday."
"Paying attention to my outfits now, Mark? Only known you for 3 days slow down." You smiled as you walked over to your bedroom.
"Doesn't feel like 3 days, trust me."
"Can't tell if that's a compliment or a complaint?"
Mark chuckled, "I'll let you decide. I'm here now by the way."
"Shit already? That was quick, I'll be down In a second." You end the call. There was no time to change from your jean shorts and baggy jumper, you had a white vest underneath anyway. You put on your boots, lock your door and head downstairs to the car park, phone and keys in hand. The first thing you see is Marks car at the entrance, you hop in, putting on the seatbelt and putting your things in a empty cup holder.
Mark watched as you did so. "Making yourself comfortable in my car?"
"I've been in it every single day since I've met you, so yeah I will. That cup holder is mine now." You put to the one with your keys and phone in. Mark shrugs as he starts the car up again.
"I won't argue, keep it. No one else comes in here anyway."
"Other then test subjects."
