Alhaitham POV:

"Will you return for the remainder of this investigation?" Cyno sipped at his drink. "Yes, I will mail you the details to my schedule on a later date" We were at Candace's. Saying our goodbyes for the time being. "And M/n?"

"The Akedemiya has requested a job from him around Aru Village" from my words, Cyno became just as skeptical. "Why didn't they just ask me? I live here."

"That is what I was thinking. But M/n is still sleeping in the hotel. When he wakes u can go ask him"

"He's still sleeping? Is he alright?"

"He's fine. We will talk later." I left before he could answer. Just thinking about what happened this morning made my heart jump and had my face bright red. As I walked, my eyes stared at the hot sand in front of me, remembering the feeling of being with him, the feeling of his hands tearing at my hair, cupping my face. How his body and lips pressed against mine, we were not separated for even a second. The way we talked, the things I said were classified as alien to me, but it felt so right in the moment.

"Can I?" He whispered in my ear. I sat on his bed and he sat on my lap. I wiped away the tears that had fallen down his face. The first word that had ran past my lips were "darling"

"You're crying" I reminded him, cupping his face. He let out a sigh, he opened his mouth to talk but no words came out. He looked like he wanted to tell me something, something that has been weighing down his heart. He said nothing in return, simply kissed my face gently before his soft lips reconnected with mine. Everything felt so right in that moment, it was only me and him, and nothing else.
"Yes, you can"

My mind kept going back to the events from the morning. It wouldn't leave me alone, even when I had to submit a report to the other Sages about our findings

"Acting grand sage? Are you alright?" One of the men asked me. "Yes yes, I'm just a little tired from the investigation" the room was silent for a moment, waiting for me to fill the silence

"Did you send M/n on a job in Aru village? If you did, what was it about?" I watched as the sages face's contorted into confused expressions. This confirmed everything. He lied. Again. First time at camp and now right to my face. Why did he do this? Why was he crying? Did he just use me as a means to numb himself?

I felt my eyes becoming heavy with tears, my heart even heavier. "This meeting is agured." I left before they said anything. My feet carried me straight out of the Akademiya. Down the streets of Sumeru to the local bar. This is where Kaveh would drag me along to hang out with his friends. As I sat down in the corner of the bar, I ordered a bottle of wine to myself. I hated this feeling, this feeling of hurt and confusion. Every positive moment with him started to feel like some sort of show he was putting on.

My irrational thinking sent me spiraling into a void of Love and Logic once again. "Excuse me?" I heard a voice next to me. It was a girl. I've never seen her before. She sat across from me, and looked at me with a pitiful gaze. "Hello? I'm sorry but I don't think we've met before" i tried my best to hide the sorrow in my voice and swallowed another gulp of wine.
"You're right, we haven't. My name is Cloette, I'm actually a friend of M/n" Oh gods. I felt even worse after hearing that. "I'm Alhaitham, is there something you need?"

"Yes...I know what you two did this morning." She muttered. I felt as if something had lit my soul on fire. I knew my face was red, and Cloette had noticed "Uh- no need to be so embarrassed. It doesn't matter who you like...well, in your case"

"I'm sorry?"

Her face suddenly went grim, her green eyes dulled before she said something that made me want to destroy the nation.

"He's my fiancé."
