A broken kingdom

chapter 17.

"What the fuck did you just do?" 

"I don't know Dream! It's like my mind and body weren't even on the same page!" I huff while walking around my room in circles. 

"Okay, okay. So now what? Do you just become Queen?" He asks tilting his head.

"I mean, the paper is already signed so its done, but I do have to tell the towns people. I'm sure Ill have to send letters to other kingdoms as well." I push my hands through my hair.

"We can do that, I'm sure-"

*knock knock*

Me and Dream look up to each other with concern. I mean, Im queen, what could go wrong I guess. I pull open my door and see Bad standing there with a mix of confusion and happiness. He sees me and runs into my arms.

"You did it muffin! I'm so proud, you are going to be a beautiful and strong queen!" Bad exclaims and pulls back to look at me.

"Thanks Bad. Could you do me a favor?" I smile softly. None of this feels real.

"Of course!"

"Could you, Sam, and Niki inform the town that there will be a gathering in front of the castle gates at twelve tomorrow?"

"Of course! We'll go do it now!" Bad rushes out the door and down the stairs. An announcement, a gathering, perfect. 

"Do you plan to tell everyone then?" Dream asks.

"Yes, they need to know and might as well do it soon. You can take the rest of the night off Dream, thank you, for everything." He nods.

"Wait! Dream, could you tell all staff and guards to gather for a mandatory meeting at 10 tomorrow in the grand hall." He smiles, "Of course your majesty." 

I close my bedroom door and spin over to my bed, collapsing into a fit of giggles. I did it. 

The next morning, 9am

I could barely sleep all night, I've been waiting for this moment since I was a little kid. I picked out a white flowy dress, one of our kingdom colors. I also paired it with simple white heels and my hair curled with babys breath flowers in it. I did my makeup simply and I made sure I looked perfect. This is my introduction to the people and to staff as queen.

I left my room and walked to the 4th floor getting some looks from my staff, hm yes, my staff. I mean my sleeves and dress did drag on the floor and I looked very formal for someone who has been locked in their room for a few years. 

I walk to where Jacks room is and see the cracked door. I push it open and see him and Finn sitting on Jacks bed.

"Where are we going to stay?" Finn asks looking at his hands. 

"Here, she's too scared to kick us out." Jack says slyly.

"No I'm not, you two are kicked out, and you may not stay in this kingdom." I say with the most powerful voice I could muster.
