A month after finally inviting her husband to her bed for more than just pleasuring each other with their hands–which’d been interrupted by Ahearn pounding on their bedroom door in the middle of the Night, most unfortunately–Geneva couldn’t have been happier since her arrival in the Colonies. She’d been quick to forgive the older Elf for such an intrusion when he’d delivered the news that her sister wife’d gone into labor, which’d summoned Jamie back to their cabin.
Watching the delivery of a pair of twins–a baby girl who’d eventually been named Ciara Makenna Ailsa Morgan Fraser and a baby boy who’d been named Conan Ryan Adair Morgan Fraser–had scared the utter shit outta her, but it also had a different effect. It hadn’t taken her long to bond with the newborns as much as their Natural parents–especially their mother–did, which made her start Wishing she could also bear her shared husband’s child. The problem seemed to be that after weeks of crawling into bed with him for more than just actual sleep, she didn’t show the slightest sign of being with child. As far as she was concerned, that meant she either hadn’t conceived, but would in the Future–or worse yet, she was simply barren and would never be able to give her husband any child, let alone a son.
Noticing that something seemed to be wrong as she handed baby Ciara to her after getting her brother latched on to nurse one afternoon, RóisÃn didn’t hesitate to call her sister wife out. She made it clear that she didn’t have to tell her what was on her mind, and that she could take her Time with doing so, even if that meant waiting Yearsta find out. Her main concern was that she be honest with her, if and when she did open up, ’cuz there was nothing she detested more than a liar besides a coward or someone who tried to censor her.
Realizing that she’d been had–and knowing her sister wife’d her ways of finding out what she wanted to know eventually–the brunette lass was overcome with Emotion. Her vision grew blurry with the tears she’d kept at bay for the last month, her knees buckling so that the chair behind her creaked when it was forced to catch her weight. She was barely able to speak through the sobs that wracked her as she finally explained what’d been on her mind lately, and it made her glad that their shared husband was in his print shop for the Day. It was a humiliating breakdown that she preferred he didn’t witness, lest he start thinking her a lil girl with no Control over herself and her Emotions.
“Och, I keep fergetting ye’re no an Elf sometimes,†the Healer laughed, letting her take her infant daughter to burp her since her infant son’d a clear preference for her.
“What do you mean, Rose?†Geneva queried, gently settling the baby girl on her shoulder.
“Ye’d already ken that yer worries’re unfounded, and ye were an Elf,†she answered. “And ye’d ken that, ’cuz ye’d have already kent that ye’re wi’ bairn since ye’d have felt it the very moment it happened like Jamie and I can.â€
“What?†The brunette lass’ jaw dropped, and her hand fell motionless against Ciara’s back for a moment.
“’Tis one of the many things Elves like us can do, ken,†RóisÃn explained. “We can sense the Energy around and wi’in us, which means we can sense the very moment a New Life sparksta–weel, Life.â€
“But why wouldn’t Jamie’ve told me, if he’d sensed such a thing?†she asked.
“Fer one thing, he’s no quite as good at sensing Energy like that as I am,†the Healer answered. “He’s a few Years shy of forty and has been practicing fer only a lil over ten Years.â€
