11. Weird dream

"It was a jest, her highness. I apologise." nakangiti na wika nito.

Damn. What's with her joke?
She gave me a heart attack there.

"You sure have an unusual humor, Lady Lavienx." saad ko.

Kung totoo ang sinabi nito, iisa lang ang ibig sabihin noon. My life is in danger. But, it's a relief that it wasn't true. Bago pa nga lang ako nakatakas sa baliw na assassin na 'yon, akala ko talaga manganganib na naman ang buhay ko.

"But don't let your guard down. What I said is what my father truly wants, that's why he sent me here. But as of now, he wasn't planning to harm you but I would still advice you to be careful and be observant." pormal na saad nito bago humigop ng tsaa.

Wow. I can't believe how she calmly said it.

I sighed. "I am very grateful for your honesty and for giving me a warning. But, why are you telling me this? Aren't you afraid that I could harm your family?" And isn't she a fillial daughter? Why is she betraying her father? That's what I really wanted to ask but she might dodge the topic again.

She heaved a sigh. "That's why I am telling you this, so you could spare my father's foolish desire for the crown." Tumingin ito ng diretso sa mata ko. "I promise you that I would never harm you, and I would even give you my loyalty. All I wanted is for you to take a blind eye and spare my family. Forgive me for being bold or rather insolent, but that is what I truly wanted, her highness."

I was speechless. How can she be that brave and told me that in a nonchalant way? What she just told me is not something you can shrug off, it is way a bigger matter. Lady Lavienx is indeed a strong woman. Everything she does amazes me.

"Do you think I am the kind of person that will spare your family just because you pledge loyalty to me? Aren't you trusting me too much?" nakangising tanong ko. I only wanted to see her reaction, so maybe I can see a glimpse of her thoughts.

"I don't know much about trust but rather, I trust your power and my loyalty. I'm confident that I wont betray you. I apologise for my insolent words, but that is what I thought."

I smiled. Her reason makes sense. Why would she trust me? I do not call it insolent, it's rather honesty for me. But that also doesn't mean that I trust her. "Can I call you Savanah?" tanong ko.

"You are free to call me whatever you want, her highness," saka ito ngumiti.

"In all honesty, you could easily took my place. With your father's connections and wealth, even the crown prince can't say no if you truly wanted it." I paused, hinintay ko na may sabihin siya pero nanatili itong tahimik. "But what made you defy your father's plan?"

"You asked me once, if I'm really fine on following what my father wants, I gave it a thought and it turns out, I'm not fine with it. I'm still marrying someone that he wants, but I don't intend to harm someone and not definitely steal someone. I don't want to be branded as someone as cheap like that. I know I deserve better than that."

Napangiti ako.

So that's why...

Tama naman ito, she definitely deserve better. I really like her because she doesn't use dirty tricks, unlike someone I know. Tsk.

I'm really glad that she isn't my enemy. I need someone like her on my side.

But, why do I feel that that's not the only reason? Well, hindi iyon importante ngayon.

"So, can I really trust that you would never harm or betray me?" madiin na tanong ko saka siya tinitigan.

"You can have my life if ever I betray you." madiin din na sagot nito.
